
Electreon has unveiled a new wireless EV charging system designed to make charging an electric car as simple as parking it. Called Electreon Lite DOT, the stationary wireless charging solution is aimed at passenger cars, light commercial vehicles and autonomous vehicles.
The technology made its first public appearance at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover, held from September 14 to 20. Unlike many wireless charging concepts that require major changes to parking infrastructure, Lite DOT is designed to be installed above ground with minimal site preparation.
The system can deliver up to 11 kW of wireless charging power, putting it in line with the charging capacity commonly found in home EV charging installations.
“The future of electric mobility is wireless, and it will soon be available in every parking space,” said Oren Ezer, Chairman and CEO of Electreon.
Park the EV and charging starts automatically
The biggest advantage of Lite DOT is its simplicity. Drivers do not need to connect a charging cable or handle a connector every time they park.
Once an equipped vehicle is positioned over the charging pad, the system identifies the vehicle and automatically begins charging.
Electreon says Lite DOT is designed for both private users and commercial fleets. It can be installed outdoors or inside garages and is engineered to operate in challenging weather conditions, including rain and snow.
The system is rated for temperatures between -30 and 50 degrees Celsius (-22 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit).
Lite DOT consists of three main components: an above-ground wireless charging pad, a wall-mounted or pole-mounted control unit, and Electreon’s Flow mobile application. Vehicles require a compatible wireless charging receiver, which can be supplied by Electreon or automotive-industry partners.
Wireless charging could be especially useful for EV fleets
Electreon sees fleet operators as one of the key markets for its new system.
Traditional EV charging requires drivers or fleet employees to repeatedly plug in and unplug vehicles. Charging cables and connectors can also be exposed to dirt, rain, snow and physical damage, increasing maintenance requirements over time.
Wireless charging removes much of that routine handling.
For fleets, Lite DOT could allow vehicles to recharge during normal parking periods without requiring drivers to connect a cable. Vehicles could therefore receive energy while parked at depots, workplaces, delivery facilities or other regular stops.
“Fleet operators need flexible and scalable charging concepts that can be easily installed at their sites and parking facilities and integrated seamlessly into day-to-day operations,” said Dr. Andreas Wendt, Managing Director of Electreon Germany.
No major excavation required
One of the notable aspects of Lite DOT is the installation approach.
Instead of requiring extensive excavation to embed charging equipment into the pavement, the charging pad sits above ground on the parking space. The associated wall unit can be installed on a garage wall or mounted outdoors, including on a pole.
That could make wireless charging easier to deploy at existing parking facilities while potentially reducing installation complexity.
The technology is also designed with autonomous vehicles in mind. Since charging can begin automatically once the vehicle is correctly positioned, wireless charging could become increasingly useful as more vehicles gain automated parking and autonomous driving capabilities.
Electreon bets on a wireless EV future
Electreon is launching Lite DOT as electric vehicle adoption continues to expand globally.
The company believes wireless charging could eventually become a standard part of EV infrastructure by allowing vehicles to recharge during parking rather than requiring a dedicated charging stop.
Electreon’s longer-term strategy also extends beyond stationary charging. The company has been developing wireless charging technology that can transfer electricity to EVs while they are driving, potentially reducing the need for large battery packs and long charging stops.
Lite DOT represents a more immediate application of the same basic wireless charging concept.
For EV owners, the idea is straightforward: park the vehicle, walk away and let the car charge automatically. For commercial fleets, the potential benefit is reducing the amount of time and effort spent managing charging cables.
The launch of Electreon Lite DOT at IAA Transportation 2026 marks another step toward making wireless EV charging a practical option for everyday parking spaces.
