2026 Opel Corsa GSE Electric Hot Hatch Opens for Orders

Opel is opening the order books for the new Corsa GSE, bringing a high-performance electric hot hatch to the brand’s lineup with 281 horsepower, a sport-tuned chassis and a starting price of €39,900 in Germany.

Positioned as the performance flagship of the Corsa range, the new Corsa GSE combines the practicality of a small electric hatchback with the sharper handling and acceleration expected from a GSE model. Following the Mokka GSE, it becomes the second battery-electric Opel to carry the performance-focused GSE badge.

With 207 kW (281 hp) and 345 Nm of torque, the Corsa GSE is also the quickest production Opel currently available, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds.

281 HP Makes the Corsa GSE Opel’s Quickest Production Model

The Corsa GSE is built around a 54-kWh lithium-ion battery, with 51 kWh of usable capacity. Opel estimates a WLTP range of up to 374 km (233 miles) on a full charge.

The electric motor produces 207 kW (281 hp) and 345 Nm, with power sent to the front wheels. A Torsen multi-plate limited-slip differential helps put that output onto the road, while a specially developed sports chassis is designed to improve traction, stability and steering response.

The suspension features dedicated axles, stabilizers and hydraulic bump stops, while the steering and accelerator and brake pedal calibration have been optimized specifically for the GSE.

Four-piston performance brakes provide additional stopping power when the Corsa GSE is being driven hard.

The car also offers three selectable driving modes. Sport provides the most aggressive calibration and is designed for performance driving, while Normal is intended for everyday use. Eco prioritizes efficiency and maximum driving range.

An active sports sound developed specifically for the Corsa GSE adds an audible performance element, with the sound changing according to acceleration and vehicle speed.

374 km of Range and Fast Charging

Despite its performance focus, the Corsa GSE remains designed for everyday electric driving.

The 54-kWh battery provides up to 374 km of WLTP range, while DC fast charging can replenish the battery from 20% to 80% in around 27 minutes at a compatible public charging station.

That combination gives the Corsa GSE a useful balance between performance and practicality. It can serve as a daily commuter while still offering significantly more performance than a conventional Corsa Electric.

Aggressive Styling Sets the Corsa GSE Apart

The performance upgrades are accompanied by a distinctive exterior design.

The Corsa GSE features a dedicated front apron and a sharper rear design, along with black trim and contrasting inserts around the lower body and wheel arches. Opel pairs the Kontur White metallic exterior with a carbon-black roof, black mirror caps and a black rear spoiler.

The hot hatch rides on 18-inch three-spoke wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires in a 215/40 R18 specification. Yellow Alcon brake calipers with GSE branding provide another visual indication that this is not an ordinary Corsa.

Inside, the sporty theme continues with Alcantara performance seats featuring black, gray and yellow retro checkered fabric inserts. Strong side bolsters are designed to provide additional support during spirited driving, while integrated headrests carry GSE logos.

Yellow seat belts, contrasting stitching and yellow interior accents add further color to the cabin.

Sporty Interior With Plenty of Technology

The Corsa GSE gets an Alcantara-covered sports steering wheel and aluminum sports pedals, while a customizable digital driver display and 10-inch central touchscreen provide the main interface for the driver.

GSE-specific graphics can display performance information including acceleration data, G-force readings and battery-management information.

Despite its performance credentials, the electric hatchback retains the practicality of the standard Corsa. Cargo capacity ranges from 267 to 1,042 liters, depending on how the rear seats are configured.

Standard equipment also includes heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 180-degree reversing camera, navigation, adaptive cruise control and Keyless Entry & Start.

The Corsa GSE also supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality through its bidirectional onboard charger, allowing the vehicle’s battery to supply power to compatible external devices.

Opel Corsa GSE Price and Availability

The new Opel Corsa GSE is now available to order in Germany with a starting price of €39,900 including VAT.

That puts the electric hot hatch only a few thousand euros above a similarly equipped Corsa Electric while delivering substantially more power and a dedicated performance package.

Opel will showcase the production Corsa GSE at the Paris Motor Show in October, where the latest addition to the GSE family will make its public motor-show debut.

With 281 hp, a limited-slip differential, performance brakes and a 5.5-second 0-100 km/h time, the Corsa GSE gives Opel a compelling new entry in the growing electric hot-hatch market. More importantly, it demonstrates that small electric cars can combine everyday usability with genuine performance-car credentials.
