Xiaomi SU7 Passes 500,000 Deliveries as EV Ambitions Expand

Xiaomi has gone from a newcomer in the automotive industry to one of China’s fastest-growing electric vehicle manufacturers in just over two years. The company has now delivered more than 500,000 Xiaomi SU7 electric sedans, marking a major milestone for a brand that entered the car business only in 2024.

The achievement highlights Xiaomi’s rapid expansion from consumer electronics into smart electric vehicles, while its growing lineup of the SU7, SU7 Ultra and YU7 is helping establish the company as a serious force in China’s highly competitive EV market.

Xiaomi SU7 Surpasses 500,000 Deliveries

Xiaomi delivered its first SU7 in April 2024. Just 28 months later, cumulative deliveries of the electric sedan have surpassed 500,000 units.

The company delivered 21,044 SU7 vehicles in July 2026 alone, taking deliveries above 100,000 units for the first seven months of the year.

Xiaomi’s broader vehicle lineup has also expanded quickly. Including the SU7, performance-focused SU7 Ultra and YU7 electric SUV, Xiaomi has delivered more than 760,000 vehicles across its model range.

That pace is notable for an automaker that did not exist until recently. Xiaomi has been able to leverage its established technology ecosystem, software expertise and large consumer base to accelerate the development and rollout of its EV products.

The SU7 has also established itself as one of China’s strongest-selling premium electric sedans.

Xiaomi’s EV Business Is Becoming a Major Revenue Driver

The rapid growth of Xiaomi’s vehicle operation is also becoming increasingly important to the company financially.

For the second quarter of 2026, Xiaomi reported RMB 24.9 billion in revenue from its smart EV, AI and other new initiatives segment, representing a 17.1% year-over-year increase. Smart EV revenue accounted for RMB 23.9 billion of that total.

Xiaomi delivered 104,199 vehicles during the second quarter, up 28.2% compared with the same period a year earlier.

The numbers show that Xiaomi’s automotive business is no longer simply an experimental extension of its consumer electronics operation. It is developing into a substantial business in its own right.

The company reported total revenue of RMB 108.9 billion for the quarter, while adjusted net profit reached RMB 6.2 billion despite higher component costs and intensifying competition.

China’s EV Price War Remains a Challenge

Despite Xiaomi’s impressive growth, the Chinese EV market is becoming increasingly difficult.

Manufacturing overcapacity and intense competition have created a crowded market, with automakers fighting aggressively for buyers. Xiaomi has not been immune to those pressures.

SU7 deliveries during the first seven months of 2026 were down significantly year over year, even as the company continued expanding its overall vehicle portfolio.

Xiaomi has set a target of 550,000 vehicle deliveries for 2026. With the first seven months accounting for roughly 39% of that annual target, the company will need a substantial acceleration during the remainder of the year to reach its goal.

The addition of new models could be critical to achieving that growth.

Xiaomi Expands Beyond Pure Electric Vehicles

One of Xiaomi’s biggest moves in 2026 is its expansion into the extended-range electric vehicle market.

In July, the company unveiled its Kunlun Technical Architecture and introduced the Xiaomi SkyNomad series of extended-range SUVs.

The move gives Xiaomi access to customers who want the driving characteristics and electric capability of an EV but are not ready to rely exclusively on battery power for longer journeys.

The Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max features a 76 kWh Xiaomi Armor Scale Battery and offers a claimed CLTC combined range of up to 1,705 km. Its interior is also designed around flexible use, with features including face-to-face seating, office mode and bed mode.

The SkyNomad lineup could therefore become an important part of Xiaomi’s next stage of growth, particularly as competition intensifies in China’s pure-EV market.

YU7 Adds Another Strong Model to Xiaomi’s Lineup

The Xiaomi YU7 electric SUV is another important piece of the company’s expansion strategy.

The YU7 gives Xiaomi a product in the rapidly growing electric SUV segment, complementing the SU7 sedan and SU7 Ultra performance model.

The SUV has also received strong safety and technology recognition in China. In the China Intelligent-connected Car Assessment Programme (C-ICAP), the YU7 achieved the highest ratings across driving assistance, parking assistance, smart cockpit and privacy protection.

It also received a Five-Star Plus safety certification in China-New Car Assessment Program (C-NCAP) testing.

With the SU7 and YU7 covering two of the most important passenger-vehicle segments, Xiaomi now has a much broader platform from which to build its automotive business.

Europe Could Be Xiaomi’s Next Major Growth Market

China remains Xiaomi’s most important automotive market, but Europe could provide the company with another major opportunity.

Xiaomi began establishing flagship stores in Europe in 2025 and has indicated plans to begin selling its vehicles in the region from 2027.

The timing could prove significant. Chinese automakers accounted for 14.2% of Europe’s EV market in the first half of 2026, demonstrating that European consumers are increasingly willing to consider Chinese electric vehicles.

For Xiaomi, entering Europe would provide access to a much larger customer base beyond its domestic market. The company could also use its existing reputation in smartphones, smart-home products and consumer electronics to help build awareness of its vehicles.

However, European expansion will bring its own challenges, including tariffs, regulations, established competitors and the need to develop local sales and service infrastructure.

Xiaomi’s Car Ambitions Are Just Beginning

The SU7’s 500,000-delivery milestone is particularly significant because it has been achieved in only a little over two years.

Xiaomi has already moved from a single electric sedan to a broader portfolio that includes a high-performance model, an electric SUV and a new extended-range SUV family. At the same time, its automotive business is generating billions of yuan in quarterly revenue.

The company still faces major challenges. China’s EV market remains intensely competitive, Xiaomi must accelerate deliveries if it wants to hit its 2026 target, and European expansion will require significant investment.

Even so, the speed of Xiaomi’s automotive rise is difficult to ignore. The company has demonstrated that an established technology brand can enter the EV industry and rapidly build a competitive vehicle business.

With the SU7 surpassing 500,000 deliveries, the YU7 expanding its SUV presence and SkyNomad opening the door to extended-range vehicles, Xiaomi’s automotive ambitions now look considerably bigger than a single successful EV.
