OMODA and JAECOO Buyers Can Get a Free EV Charger or £1,000 in Charging Credit

Electric car buyers in the UK can now get a significant boost towards their charging costs, with OMODA and JAECOO partnering with Octopus Energy to offer a choice of a free home EV charger or £1,000 in public charging credit.

The new incentive is available to private customers purchasing a new OMODA E5 or JAECOO E5, giving buyers the flexibility to choose the charging solution that best suits their lifestyle. The home charging package includes an Octopus Energy smart EV charger with standard installation, worth up to £1,029, while customers who prefer public charging can receive £1,000 in credit through the Octopus Electroverse network.

The offer is available on eligible vehicle orders placed between October 9, 2026, and March 31, 2027, at participating OMODA and JAECOO retailers in the UK.

The partnership arrives at a time when fuel costs remain a major concern for UK motorists. According to RAC Fuel Watch figures cited in the announcement, the average price of unleaded petrol reached 174.71 pence per litre in October 2026.

For drivers considering the switch to an electric vehicle, lower running costs are an important part of the appeal. Octopus Energy says motorists can save up to 85% by charging at home compared with traditional petrol costs, although actual savings depend on electricity tariffs, vehicle efficiency and driving habits.

By offering two different charging incentives, OMODA and JAECOO are also addressing one of the biggest practical considerations for potential EV buyers: access to convenient and affordable charging.

Customers with off-street parking can choose the free home charger, making overnight charging easier. Those without a suitable home charging location can instead take advantage of £1,000 in public charging credit.

The public charging option provides access to more than 1.4 million charging points worldwide through the Octopus Electroverse network.

Redeeming the offer is relatively straightforward. When purchasing an eligible new vehicle, customers simply need to tell their OMODA or JAECOO retailer which charging incentive they prefer.

Buyers choosing the home charging option will receive an email from Octopus Energy containing a link to order their charger online. The package includes the company’s Octopus Charge untethered smart EV charger and standard installation at no additional cost.

Customers who prefer a different charger available through Octopus Energy, or whose property requires a non-standard installation, will need to cover any additional cost above the £1,029 allowance.

Alternatively, buyers selecting the public charging incentive will receive a one-time voucher code by email within 14 days. Entering the code into the Octopus Electroverse app automatically adds the full £1,000 credit to their account.

The credit can then be used to pay for charging at compatible public charging stations available through the network.

OMODA E5: Up to 267 Miles of Electric Range

The OMODA E5 is one of the two models included in the new charging incentive.

It features a 61-kWh battery pack paired with an electric motor producing 211 PS and 288 Nm of torque. According to WLTP figures, the electric SUV offers a combined driving range of up to 267 miles.

Performance is also competitive for the segment, with the OMODA E5 accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in 7.2 seconds.

The five-seat electric SUV is available in two trim levels in the UK:

– Knight: Starting at £33,065 OTR.
– Noble: Starting at £34,565 OTR.

With its practical SUV layout, electric powertrain and generous standard equipment, the OMODA E5 is positioned as an accessible option for buyers looking to move into fully electric driving.

JAECOO E5: Electric SUV With Up to 248 Miles of Range

The JAECOO E5 is the second model eligible for the Octopus Energy promotion.

It uses a 60.9-kWh battery and a 207 PS electric motor, delivering a WLTP combined range of up to 248 miles.

One of its practical advantages is its DC fast-charging capability. When connected to a suitable rapid charging station, the JAECOO E5 can charge from 30% to 80% in approximately 27 minutes.

The model also brings several features aimed at drivers with active lifestyles, including dedicated pet-friendly and camping modes.

UK pricing starts at:

– Pure: £27,505 OTR.
– Luxury: £30,505 OTR.

The JAECOO E5’s lower starting price makes it an interesting alternative for buyers looking for an electric SUV without moving into higher-priced segments.

OMODA and JAECOO Focus on the Overall EV Ownership Experience

The partnership with Octopus Energy reflects a broader effort by OMODA&JAECOO UK to make electric vehicle ownership more appealing beyond the initial vehicle purchase.

Victor Zhang, Managing Director of OMODA&JAECOO UK, said the company wants to give customers more flexibility when choosing how to charge their vehicles.

He highlighted that access to convenient charging is just as important as selecting the right electric car, particularly for drivers who are making the transition from petrol or diesel vehicles.

Alex Schoch, Director of Electrification at Octopus Energy, also pointed to the potential savings available to motorists switching away from fossil fuels. He said the partnership would help drivers benefit from simpler and more affordable charging, whether at home or through the public Electroverse network.

Both companies are looking to make the transition to electric driving easier by addressing one of the most important parts of EV ownership: charging infrastructure and costs.
