Stellantis-backed Leapmotor has officially unveiled its new flagship, the D19 full-sized SUV. Built on the brand’s cutting-edge D platform, this luxury-focused model is set to shake up the market, offering buyers a choice between both a pure electric and an extended range electric (EREV) variant.
The Leapmotor D19 is scheduled to hit the market in the first half of 2026.
Power, Performance and Range
The D19 doesn’t just look big—it backs it up with serious specs:
– EV Range: A substantial 720 km on a single charge.
– EREV Pure Electric Range: An impressive 500 km for daily, emissions-free driving.
– Blistering Speed: The EV variant can rocket from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3 seconds.

The EV model
The pure EV model is a true performance machine. It delivers a combined output of 540 kW (724 hp), powered by a massive 115 kWh battery pack. This battery, developed by CATL, uses a sophisticated blend of lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium materials for optimal performance and safety.
Crucially, the EV uses a 1,000V high-voltage platform, allowing for lightning-fast charging. You can add 350 km of range in just 15 minutes.
The EREV model
The EREV variant uses an engine purely as a range-extender, supporting dual electric motors to achieve a robust 400 kW (536 hp) system power. It features an 80.3 kWh battery with that outstanding 500 km pure electric range. Thanks to its 800V high-voltage platform, the EREV can recharge from 30% to 80% in the same rapid 15-minute window.

Design and Next-Generation Tech
The D19 adopts the “Technology Natural Aesthetics 2.0” design language, giving it a modern and commanding road presence.
The front end is highlighted by a distinctive three-stage headlight cluster that can actually be used as a projector. Below it, the lower grille can automatically open and close to optimize aerodynamics and cooling based on conditions. For its advanced driving capabilities, a lidar unit is neatly positioned on the roof. In the rear, the taillight is 1958 mm long and contains 11,025 LED units.
The SUV is truly full-sized, measuring over 5.2 meters in length, nearly 2 meters in width, and boasts a generous 3.1+ meter wheelbase for maximum cabin space. Buyers will have five exterior paint options to choose from: green, white, silver, gray, and black.
Leapmotor is stuffing the D19 with cutting-edge electronics, featuring dual Qualcomm Snapdragon 8797 chipsets. With a staggering compute power of up to 1280 TOPS (Trillion Operations Per Second), one chip manages the intelligent cockpit, while the other handles the advanced driving assistance systems.
Perhaps the most unique feature is the industry’s first on-vehicle oxygen generator. With a maximum capacity of 8L per minute, this is a clear feature aimed at the popular trend of domestic travel to high-altitude regions in China, such as Tibet, ensuring comfort and safety for occupants.
