MG Motor UK has delivered its strongest June sales performance on record, with 10,395 vehicles sold during the month. The result caps a record-breaking first half of the year for the brand and lifts MG to eighth place in the UK overall sales rankings.
The latest figures build on previous records set in April and May, giving MG its highest year-to-date total ever for the first six months of the year. Overall sales are up 14.4%, comfortably ahead of the wider UK market, which has grown by 9.2% over the same period.
Private Buyers Fuel MG’s Momentum
MG’s growth has been especially strong among private buyers. Private retail sales have increased 24% year-to-date, more than double the market average of 11%, helping the company climb to sixth place in the UK private retail sales charts.
The performance highlights MG’s growing appeal among consumers seeking affordable vehicles equipped with modern technology and electrified powertrains.
Electrified Models Now Account for 91% of Sales
Electrification remains the key driver behind MG’s expansion. According to the company, 91% of all vehicles sold this year feature an electrified powertrain, including hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric models.
Battery-electric vehicle sales have been particularly impressive, rising 74% year-to-date. That growth significantly outpaces the broader UK BEV market, which has increased by 27% over the same period.
MG’s expanding electric lineup has played a major role in that success, with several new EVs introduced over the past two years helping the brand strengthen its position in the UK market.
MG HS Plug-in Hybrid Among UK’s Top Sellers
The MG HS Plug-in Hybrid continues to be one of the brand’s standout performers. Sales of the model are up 67% year-on-year, making it the fifth best-selling plug-in hybrid in the UK.
MG has also established itself as the second best-selling hybrid manufacturer in the country, with both the MG ZS and the MG HS ranking among the UK’s five best-selling hybrid vehicles so far this year.
Technology and Value Continue to Attract Buyers
David Allison, Director of Product and Planning at MG Motor UK, said the company’s strong first-half performance reflects its strategy of offering advanced technology and efficient electrified powertrains across an expanding model range.
He also pointed to the rapid growth in private retail sales as evidence that UK consumers are increasingly recognizing MG’s combination of technology, efficiency and value.
MG’s UK Growth Shows No Sign of Slowing
With record sales in April, May and June, accelerating EV adoption and strong demand for hybrid and plug-in hybrid models, MG has emerged as one of the fastest-growing mainstream automotive brands in the UK during 2026.
If current trends continue, the company appears well positioned to strengthen its market share further in the second half of the year.
