BYD Tops 100,000 UK Vehicle Registrations Less Than Three Years After Market Debut

BYD has reached a major milestone in the UK, surpassing 100,000 new vehicle registrations in fewer than three years since entering the market. The achievement highlights the remarkable growth of the Chinese New Energy Vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, which has rapidly established itself as one of the UK’s fastest-growing automotive brands.

The company officially began UK sales in March 2023 with the launch of the BYD ATTO 3. Since then, its local portfolio has expanded dramatically from a single model to a diverse lineup of 10 vehicles, offering customers a broad choice of fully electric and plug-in hybrid models.

Expanding EV and Plug-in Hybrid Lineup

BYD’s UK range now spans multiple vehicle segments. Fully electric offerings include models such as the compact DOLPHIN SURF, the updated ATTO 3 EVO, and the high-performance SEALION 7 SUV-coupé, producing up to 530 PS.

Alongside its battery-electric vehicles, BYD has strengthened its presence with its DM-i plug-in hybrid technology. The range now includes: SEAL U DM-I, ATTO 2 DM-I, SEAL 6 DM-i Saloon, SEAL 6 DM-i Touring and SEALION 5 DM-i.

The addition of these models has enabled BYD to appeal to buyers seeking both all-electric driving and hybrid flexibility.

Retail Network Continues Rapid Growth

BYD’s retail footprint has expanded just as quickly as its product lineup. The company launched with only five retail partners in the UK and has since grown to a nationwide network of 143 retail locations, significantly improving customer access to sales and aftersales services.

Sales momentum has also accelerated. Of the 100,000 vehicles registered in the UK, 37,995 were delivered during the first half of 2026 alone, accounting for more than one-third of the brand’s total registrations.

More New Models and Technology on the Way

Looking ahead, BYD plans to broaden its UK lineup even further. Upcoming introductions include the BYD DOLPHIN G, SHARK, and Ti 7, alongside premium models from the DENZA brand, including the Z, D9, BAO 5, and Z9 GT.

The company also intends to introduce its FLASH Charging technology, designed to significantly reduce charging times and improve the convenience of electric vehicle ownership.

BYD’s UK Growth Shows No Signs of Slowing

Reaching 100,000 registrations in under three years represents a significant achievement for BYD in one of Europe’s most competitive automotive markets.

Supported by an expanding model range, a rapidly growing dealer network, and continued investment in new technologies, the automaker appears well-positioned to strengthen its presence in the UK as demand for electrified vehicles continues to rise.
