Mercedes-Benz Adds New Electric GLC 250 Variant With Up To 389 Miles of Range

Mercedes-Benz has expanded its all-electric GLC range with the introduction of the new GLC 250, providing buyers with a more accessible entry point into the brand’s latest premium electric SUV lineup. Available to order now in the UK, the rear-wheel-drive GLC 250 starts at £55,495 in Sport trim and joins the existing GLC 400 4MATIC.

The launch comes as demand for the new electric GLC continues to exceed expectations. Mercedes-Benz says the model is already generating more orders than any electric vehicle in the company’s history, prompting production at its Bremen plant to operate on a three-shift schedule.

Up To 389 Miles Of Driving Range

The new GLC 250 is powered by a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle, producing 354 horsepower (260 kW). Energy comes from an 85 kWh usable battery pack, delivering a WLTP driving range of up to 389 miles on a single charge.

Performance remains impressive despite its focus on efficiency. The electric SUV accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 5.9 seconds, while DC fast charging capabilities allow the battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in just 22 minutes when connected to a compatible 320 kW charger.

In Germany, pricing starts at €64,736 including VAT (€54,400 excluding VAT), while the GLC 300 4MATIC electric begins at €68,306 including VAT.

Premium Comfort And Everyday Practicality

Mercedes-Benz has designed the electric GLC to combine luxury, practicality, and long-distance usability. The SUV offers generous interior space, including a 128-liter front trunk (frunk), while towing capacity reaches up to 2.2 tonnes.

Customers can choose from five trim levels: Sport, AMG Line, AMG Line Premium, AMG Line Premium Plus, and Premier Edition.

An optional Refinement Package enhances ride quality and handling through intelligent AIRMATIC air suspension and rear-axle steering with up to 4.5 degrees of steering angle. The combination improves both high-speed stability and low-speed maneuverability.

MBUX Hyperscreen And MB.OS Power The Digital Experience

Inside, Mercedes-Benz introduces its latest digital ecosystem. Higher-spec AMG Line Premium, AMG Line Premium Plus, and Premier Edition models come equipped with the immersive MBUX Hyperscreen, creating a seamless glass-panel display that spans the dashboard.

The system is powered by the new Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), which integrates infotainment, vehicle functions, charging management, navigation, and comfort features into a unified platform. Regular over-the-air updates are delivered through the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud, helping keep software and functionality current throughout the vehicle’s life cycle.

Advanced Driver Assistance Technologies

Safety and convenience technologies are grouped under the new MB.DRIVE umbrella. Standard equipment includes DISTRONIC Distance Assist and Parking Assist, while optional packages add enhanced driver-support functions and 360-degree surround-view parking assistance.

Mercedes-Benz says the available systems support SAE Level 2 assisted driving capabilities, further enhancing comfort and confidence during daily commuting and long-distance travel.

New Design Language Debuts On Electric GLC

The all-electric GLC also serves as the first Mercedes-Benz model to showcase the company’s evolved design language. Key highlights include a redesigned grille that can be optionally illuminated and animated, creating a distinctive visual signature while maintaining the premium appearance expected from the brand.

With competitive range figures, ultra-fast charging, advanced technology, and increased practicality, the new GLC 250 broadens the appeal of Mercedes-Benz’s electric SUV lineup and strengthens its position in the growing premium EV market.
