Lucid Motors has begun rolling out a significant over-the-air (OTA) software update for the Lucid Gravity, bringing a suite of new features designed to improve driving convenience, navigation, charging transparency, and everyday usability.
The update marks another major step in Lucid’s software-first approach, introducing hands-free highway driving capabilities to Gravity models equipped with DreamDrive Pro 2 while adding several highly requested enhancements across the vehicle’s ecosystem.
Hands-Free Driving Arrives for Lucid Gravity
The headline feature of the latest software release is Hands-Free Drive Assist, available on Lucid Gravity vehicles equipped with DreamDrive Pro 2.
Designed to make long-distance highway travel more comfortable, the system can manage steering, acceleration, and braking on compatible highways throughout North America while continuously monitoring driver attention. Drivers are still required to remain engaged and ready to take control when necessary.
The update also introduces Hands-Free Lane Change functionality. By activating a turn signal, drivers can allow the vehicle to guide itself into an adjacent lane when conditions are safe. For added convenience, Automatic Lane Change can independently initiate passing maneuvers to overtake slower-moving traffic.
The new feature places Lucid among a growing number of automakers offering advanced hands-free highway driving systems, competing with technologies such as General Motors’ Super Cruise and Ford’s BlueCruise.
Part of Lucid’s Broader Autonomous Driving Strategy
The launch of Hands-Free Drive Assist comes as Lucid continues expanding its autonomous driving ambitions.
The company has already outlined plans to deploy Gravity-based robotaxis powered by Nuro software through the Uber platform later this year. Lucid has also previewed a compact autonomous mobility concept and previously stated that its upcoming midsize vehicle platform is being developed with future Level 4 autonomous driving capability in mind, supported by NVIDIA’s advanced autonomy technologies.
While fully autonomous driving remains a future goal, the latest Gravity update demonstrates Lucid’s commitment to continuously expanding vehicle capabilities through software.
Navigation Gets Smarter with Google Maps Places Integration
The OTA update also enhances the Gravity’s navigation experience through integration with the Google Maps Places API.
Drivers can now access richer destination information directly from the vehicle’s navigation system, including business ratings, photos, parking details, and improved location data. Charging station listings have also been upgraded with more accurate real-time availability information and updated imagery, helping EV owners plan charging stops with greater confidence.
These improvements make route planning more intuitive while delivering a more connected user experience.
Adaptive High Beams Improve Nighttime Visibility
Another notable addition is Adaptive Driving Beam technology, available on vehicles equipped with DreamDrive Premium or DreamDrive Pro 2.
The system allows high beams to remain active for improved nighttime visibility while automatically adjusting portions of the light pattern around other vehicles. This helps maximize illumination without creating glare for oncoming drivers or vehicles ahead.
The feature is particularly beneficial during highway driving and on poorly lit roads where maintaining maximum visibility can improve driver confidence.
New Charging Insights for EV Enthusiasts
Lucid is also providing owners with deeper insight into battery and charging performance.
A new Advanced Preconditioning View displays battery temperature relative to the optimal charging window, helping drivers better understand when their battery is prepared for fast charging.
Additionally, a new Predictive Charging Power feature estimates the vehicle’s expected peak DC fast-charging rate before plugging in. The prediction takes into account factors such as battery temperature and vehicle state, giving drivers a clearer picture of anticipated charging performance.
These additions further reinforce Lucid’s focus on delivering a transparent and data-rich ownership experience for EV drivers.
Continuing to Expand Gravity’s Capabilities
The Lucid Gravity experienced a challenging software launch following the start of customer deliveries, but the company has steadily improved the SUV through frequent OTA updates. This latest release represents one of the most substantial software enhancements yet, adding new functionality while refining several key aspects of the ownership experience.
With hands-free highway driving, smarter navigation tools, adaptive lighting, and enhanced charging visibility now arriving via software update, the Lucid Gravity continues to evolve into one of the most technologically advanced electric SUVs on the market.
