DENZA Z9GT Arrives in Europe with Ultra-Fast FLASH Charging and Flagship Performance

Premium electric mobility in Europe is entering a new phase with the debut of the DENZA Z9GT, a flagship model from BYD Group’s technology-focused sub-brand.

Designed to blend high-end comfort, cutting-edge engineering, and distinctive styling, the Z9GT positions itself as a serious contender in the premium EV segment.

Available as both a fully electric vehicle and a plug-in Super Hybrid (DM), the Z9GT aims to eliminate range anxiety while delivering performance and refinement expected from top-tier grand tourers.

Ultra-Fast Charging Sets a New Benchmark

At the core of the Z9GT’s appeal is BYD’s new FLASH Charging system, capable of delivering up to 1,500kW of charging power (market dependent). This enables charging speeds that rival traditional refueling:

– 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes
– 10% to 97% in approximately 9 minutes
– Even at -30°C: 20% to 97% in around 12 minutes

This “Ready in 5, Full in 9” capability is supported by the brand’s latest battery innovation—the second-generation Blade Battery—which improves energy density while maintaining safety and durability.

Next-Gen Blade Battery Technology

The updated Blade Battery represents a significant evolution in lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry. It integrates advanced ion transport systems and structural improvements to deliver 5% higher energy density, reduced internal resistance and heat generation and enhanced durability with lower degradation over time.

Safety remains a major highlight. The battery has passed extreme stress tests, including simultaneous fast charging and nail penetration, without thermal runaway or fire—setting a new benchmark in EV safety.

Performance Meets Flexibility: EV and Plug-in Hybrid Options

The Z9GT is built on the all-new e3 Platform, engineered exclusively for DENZA. It enables both electric and hybrid configurations without compromise.

Fully Electric Version

– Up to 1,156 PS (850 kW)
– 0–62 mph in 2.7 seconds
– WLTP range: up to 372 miles
– Future RWD variant: up to 500 miles

Plug-in Hybrid DM Version

– Combined output: 776 PS
– Electric-only range: up to 126 miles
– Total range: up to 500 miles
– 0–62 mph in 3.6 seconds

The hybrid model pairs three electric motors with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine acting primarily as a generator, offering long-distance flexibility without sacrificing performance.

Advanced Dynamics and Intelligent Control

The e3 Platform introduces several cutting-edge features that enhance both performance and safety:

– Three-motor independent drive system
– Rear dual-motor independent steering
– Vehicle Motion Control (VMC) with millisecond response times
– Cell-to-Body (CTB) construction for increased rigidity and safety

These systems allow the Z9GT to respond instantly to changing conditions, including high-speed tire blowouts, while improving maneuverability and stability.

Notably, rear-wheel steering enables advanced functions such as crab-walking and a tight turning radius comparable to compact cars—despite the Z9GT’s large footprint.

Elegant Shooting Brake Design

The Z9GT’s exterior adopts a sophisticated shooting brake silhouette, combining sporty proportions with refined elegance. Designed under Wolfgang Egger, the styling draws inspiration from flowing silk, resulting in clean lines and balanced proportions.

Aerodynamic enhancements, including active vents and dual spoilers, improve efficiency while reinforcing its grand tourer identity.

Luxury Interior with High-Tech Features

Inside, the Z9GT offers a limousine-like cabin thanks to its flat-floor architecture and CTB integration. Premium materials such as leather and wood are complemented by ambient lighting and advanced technology.

Key highlights include:

– 17.3-inch central infotainment display
– Dual 13.2-inch screens for driver and passenger
– 50-inch augmented reality head-up display
– AI-powered digital assistant with Google integration

Comfort features are equally impressive, with massaging seats, a refrigerated compartment, four-zone climate control, and a 20-speaker sound system enhanced by Dolby Atmos.

European Launch and Ownership Experience

The DENZA Z9GT will roll out across key European markets, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK. Customers will benefit from a premium ownership experience supported by app-based services, mobile maintenance, and valet options.

Early buyers will also receive up to 18 months of complimentary FLASH Charging, reinforcing the model’s focus on convenience and usability.

A New Benchmark for Premium Electrification

With its combination of ultra-fast charging, advanced battery technology, and dual powertrain flexibility, the DENZA Z9GT represents a bold step forward in premium electric mobility. By addressing traditional EV limitations—charging speed, range, and convenience—it sets a new benchmark for what luxury electrification can achieve in Europe.
