BYD Unveils Second-Generation Blade Battery and Ultra-Fast Flash Charging

BYD, the world’s leading new energy vehicle manufacturer, has officially unveiled its second-generation Blade Battery along with groundbreaking Flash Charging technology—a move that could redefine EV charging speeds and performance.

The new Blade Battery sets a new benchmark for charging efficiency. It can power from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes, and 10% to 97% in 9 minutes. Even at extreme temperatures, the system remains highly efficient: at -20°C, a 20%-97% charge takes only 12 minutes, and at -30°C, just 15 minutes.

When paired with standard charging piles, the battery charges 30%-50% faster than conventional EV batteries, highlighting BYD’s commitment to performance without compromise.

More Energy, Longer Life, and Maximum Safety

Beyond speed, the second-generation Blade Battery offers:

– 5% higher energy density than its predecessor
– Extended lifespan for long-term reliability
– Stricter safety standards for peace of mind

In practice, the Denza Z9 GT, equipped with this battery, can achieve a staggering 1,036 km on a single charge, showcasing BYD’s leap in EV technology.

Innovative Flash Charging Stations

To support the new battery, BYD is rolling out a next-gen Flash Charging network. Highlights include:

– T-shaped charging gun for easier access and compact, waterproof design
– Upper sliding rail system for charging at greater distances
– Maximum output of 1,500 kW at 1,000V, enabling rapid cold-weather charging
– Idle fees to encourage faster turnover, similar to traditional gas stations

Vehicles compatible with BYD’s Flash Charging will feature a distinctive tail badge, signaling advanced charging capabilities.

Smart Grid Integration: “Station-Within-a-Station”

High-power charging can strain the grid, but BYD has a solution: energy storage batteries integrated into existing public charging stations. This “station-within-a-station” model allows rapid deployment without adding pressure to the grid.

BYD plans to establish 20,000 Flash Charging stations in 2026, including 18,000 integrated stations. In just the first two months of the year, 4,239 stations were completed, ready to operate immediately.

Additionally, 2,000 highway stations will ensure coverage every 100 km, making long-distance EV travel faster and more convenient.

With the second-generation Blade Battery and a massive Flash Charging network, BYD is positioning itself at the forefront of EV technology, offering ultra-fast charging, extreme cold resilience, and long-range performance.
