Audi Q4 e-tron returns with a comprehensive update aimed at boosting everyday usability, efficiency, and in-car technology. The refreshed electric crossover introduces a sharper design, improved range, faster charging, and—most notably—Audi’s first bidirectional charging capability.
Positioned as the brand’s electric entry point, the latest Q4 e-tron evolves into a more versatile and tech-forward EV, targeting both families and fleet buyers.
Bidirectional Charging Brings New Practicality
For the first time in an Audi EV, the Q4 e-tron supports bidirectional charging. This allows the vehicle’s battery not only to receive energy but also to supply it.
The Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function enables the car to power external devices such as e-bikes or camping equipment via a socket in the boot or charging port adapter. In select European markets, Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) capability allows the SUV to act as an energy storage system for households, particularly useful when paired with solar panels.
This feature marks a significant step toward integrating EVs into broader home energy ecosystems.
More Range and Faster Charging
Efficiency upgrades play a central role in the Q4 e-tron refresh. A new-generation electric motor and improved power electronics increase overall efficiency by around 10 percent.
The enhanced Q4 Sportback e-tron performance now delivers up to 367 miles of range (WLTP, pending final UK confirmation). Across the lineup, range gains vary between 10 and 20 miles depending on configuration.
Charging performance has also improved. Models equipped with the 82 kWh battery now support up to 185 kW DC fast charging, up from 175 kW. This enables a 10–80% charge in approximately 27 minutes, while up to 115 miles of range can be added in just 10 minutes under optimal conditions.
Battery preconditioning—manual or automatic—further optimizes charging speeds, especially in colder temperatures.
Refined Design and Advanced Lighting
The exterior design has been sharpened with a more expressive stance, updated front fascia, and new aerodynamic elements. A body-colored Singleframe grille and redesigned bumpers give the SUV a cleaner, more modern look.
Lighting technology takes a leap forward with customizable digital LED daytime running lights and second-generation OLED rear lights. These systems not only enhance visual identity but also improve safety with proximity alerts for nearby road users.
Drivers can choose from multiple digital light signatures, adding a new level of personalization.
Digital-First Interior with AI Integration
Inside, the Q4 e-tron features a redesigned cabin centered around a new “digital stage.” A panoramic display combines an 11.9-inch driver screen with a 12.8-inch central touchscreen.
An optional 12-inch passenger display—one of the largest in its class—adds functionality and visual appeal. The infotainment system is powered by Android Automotive OS and includes access to third-party apps via the Audi Application Store.
A standout addition is integrated AI functionality powered by ChatGPT, enabling natural voice interactions and real-time information queries directly within the vehicle.
Other highlights include:
– Augmented reality head-up display
– Dual wireless charging pads with cooling (15W each)
– Premium ambient lighting and upgraded materials
– Sonos premium audio system (optional)
Space and Practicality
Despite its compact footprint, the Q4 e-tron continues to deliver strong practicality. Boot space stands at 520 liters, expanding to 1,490 liters with rear seats folded.
Quattro models now offer increased towing capacity of up to 1,800 kg, enhancing versatility for active lifestyles.
Enhanced Driver Assistance
The updated Q4 e-tron introduces improved driver assistance systems designed to simplify daily driving. Standard features include adaptive cruise preparation, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, and front assist systems.
Optional systems such as adaptive driving assistant plus enable semi-automated driving functions, including assisted lane changes at highway speeds.
Pricing and Availability
In the UK, the Q4 SUV e-tron with a 63 kWh battery starts at £46,260, while the Sportback version begins at £48,160. Orders are set to open in June, with deliveries expected later in the summer.
A Smarter, More Versatile Electric SUV
With meaningful upgrades across performance, charging, and digital features, the Audi Q4 e-tron strengthens its position in the competitive electric SUV segment. The addition of bidirectional charging and AI-powered infotainment signals Audi’s push toward smarter, more integrated electric mobility.
