Maruti Suzuki Launches All-Electric Suzuki e VITARA in India

Suzuki Motor Corporation has officially entered India’s competitive electric SUV segment with the launch of the e VITARA, its first global battery electric vehicle (BEV). Sales began on 17 February, marking a significant milestone for both Suzuki and its Indian subsidiary, Maruti Suzuki India Limited.

Positioned as an “Emotional Versatile Cruiser,” the e VITARA combines bold SUV styling with advanced EV technology, underpinned by a brand-new dedicated electric platform.

The e VITARA rides on Suzuki’s newly developed HEARTECT-e architecture, engineered specifically for battery electric vehicles. The platform supports improved structural rigidity, efficient battery packaging, and optimised weight distribution — all contributing to a sharper and more responsive driving experience.

Its exterior design blends futuristic elements with muscular SUV proportions, signalling Suzuki’s global EV ambitions.

The Suzuki e VITARA features a newly developed EV powertrain and charging system, paired with a standard heat pump battery thermal management system to maximise efficiency and driving range.

Battery Options:
– 49kWh LFP battery (2WD)
– 61kWh LFP battery (2WD and ALLGRIP-e AWD)

– Driving Range:
– 49kWh 2WD: Over 200 miles (approx. 322 km)
– 61kWh 2WD: Nearly 250 miles (approx. 402 km)

Power Output:
– 49kWh model: 106kW
– 61kWh 2WD: 128kW
– ALLGRIP-e AWD: Dual-motor setup with combined output of 135kW

The ALLGRIP-e variant adds a rear eAxle delivering 48kW of additional power and 114Nm of extra torque when needed. This enhances traction and stability, particularly in slippery conditions — giving the e VITARA genuine all-weather capability.

Expanding EV Charging Across India

To support its growing EV customer base, Maruti Suzuki has rolled out its “e for me” strategy — a comprehensive ownership ecosystem focused on convenience and peace of mind.

Key highlights include:

– 2,000+ exclusive charging points
– Coverage across 1,100+ cities
– Target of 100,000 charging points by 2030 via dealer and Charge Point Operator partnerships

The dedicated “e for me” mobile app allows owners to locate charging stations and monitor charging status remotely.

In addition, Maruti Suzuki has prepared 1,500 BEV-ready service workshops nationwide, backed by mobile service units to ensure maintenance and repair support across India.

The e VITARA is produced at Maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur facility in Gujarat and serves as Suzuki’s first global strategic BEV. In addition to India, the model has already begun sales in Europe and Japan and will be exported to more than 100 countries and regions worldwide.
