Ford E-Transit Electric Van Gets More Range And Faster Charging For 2024

Ford Transit is celebrating a decade in-market and its 10th year of U.S. production and sales with enhancements to E-Transit range and new charging, software and integrated solutions, helping to ease the transition to electric and maximize benefits for commercial customers.

New for the 2024 model year, Ford Pro enhances range capability on E-Transit, offering an overall estimated range of 159 miles on low-roof cargo van models with 89 kWh of usable energy, which supports work covering longer distances and provides more capability to unlock electric solutions for new use cases, like refrigerated delivery. The additional range over the previous model is an increase of 26% on low-roof and a 32% increase on high-roof models.

Leveraging Ford Telematics data, Ford analyzed more than 2.5 million trips, totaling 30 million miles, to understand that the average daily range for commercial vans in the U.S. is 74 miles. And E-Transit with enhanced range maintains the same 266 hp and 317 lb.-ft. of torque as the prior model.

Registration data shows that customers agree E-Transit owns work, serving more industries and more vocations than any other electric van.

Faster charging: New dual onboard chargers enable the E-Transit battery to charge faster than ever. The 2024 E-Transit can charge at a peak power of 176 kilowatts (kW). Fifteen minutes on a DC fast charger (180-plus kW) is estimated to add 67 miles of range on a 2024 E-Transit cargo van low-roof configuration—a 49% increase over the prior battery.

And the 2024 E-Transit will charge from zero to 100% in just six hours and 11 minutes when using the now-available Ford Pro Series 2 80A charging station—22% faster than the prior battery—providing a full charge overnight.

Pro Power Onboard: Available across the E-Transit van lineup, Pro Power Onboard provides 2.4 kW of power and is operable while the vehicle is in motion and while charging, enabling users to plug in a laptop, tools or other power equipment on the go or the jobsite.

E-Transit is available in more configurations than any other all-electric commercial van from a full-line automaker, offering two lengths, three roof heights, three body styles and up to 487 cubic feet of cargo volume.

Order banks for the 2024 E-Transit with enhanced range will open this spring, with deliveries expected to start later this year. 2024 E-Transit with enhanced range MSRP begins at $51,095. E-Transit may also qualify for the Commercial Clean Vehicle Tax Credit of up to $7,500 per vehicle.
