Palo Alto-based electric vehicle Tesla reported vehicle production and delivery numbers for second quarter of 2021.
Tesla produced just over 206,420 electric vehicles and delivered 201,250 vehicles, beating analysts’ expectations.
The company delivered 1,890 Model S and Model X vehicles from its inventory. It delivered 199,360 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.
The Q2 deliveries beat Tesla’s previous record of 184,800 deliveries in Q1 2021. The new deliveries figures were over 100 percent higher than the Q2 2020.
“In the second quarter, we produced and delivered over 200,000 vehicles. Our teams have done an outstanding job navigating through global supply chain and logistics challenges.” Said Tesla in a statement.
Production | Deliveries | Subject to operating lease accounting | |
Model S/X | 2,340 | 1,890 | 18% |
Model 3/Y | 204,081 | 199,360 | 7% |
Total | 206,421 | 201,250 | 7% |
Tesla noted that its delivery count should be viewed as slightly conservative since it only counts a car as delivered if it is transferred to the customer and all of the paperwork is accurate. Final numbers could vary by up to 0.5% or more.
The company will release quarterly financial results in a few weeks.
