Ford will unveil its Mustang-inspired electric SUV in November

Ford released on Thursday the first design sketch of its all-new Mustang-inspired, all-electric SUV with the announcement of its full reveal on November 18th, 2019.

The reveal of the all-new vehicle, which will have a targeted pure-electric driving range of up to 600 km (more than 370 miles under WLTP regulations), will be livestreamed from a location in Los Angeles at 03:00 CET on November 18th.

Ford didn’t provide more details about the vehicle, which is expected to be called the “Mach E”.

Ford’s new all-electric vehicle will be on public display for the first time at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2019.

The all-electric SUV is expected to be the flagship of Ford’s big $11.5 billion push into in all-electric and hybrid vehicles through 2022. The concentration on all-electric and hybrid vehicles comes amid an $11 billion restructuring plan announced by Ford CEO Jim Hackett last year.

Ford has diversified its electrification plans since announcing the $11 billion effort in 2018, too. The company announced this past April that it will build an electric SUV using tech from EV startup Rivian as part of a $500 million investment. Ford has also teased an all-electric F-150 truck that is expected to follow the SUV into the market.

Ford is also partnering with Volkswagen, and it will build at least one electric vehicle using Volkswagen’s modular EV platform.

The company also recently announced its all-electric vehicle customers will have access to more than 12,000 public charging stations in North America and more than 125,000 charging locations in 21 countries in Europe.
