EVBox becomes first sponsor of NIO Formula E team

EVBox, the leading global manufacturer of electric vehicle charging stations and charging management software, proudly announces an agreement with the NIO Formula E Team as an Official Associate Partner.

EVBox branding is to appear on the team’s four race cars, driver suits, and team apparel for today’s round of the 2017-18 Formula E Championship in Santiago, Chile.

The FIA Formula E is the first global electric street racing series. Over 190 million people across more than 100 countries tune in to watch the electric races, which take place in many of the world’s leading cities such as Hong Kong, Paris, Berlin and New York. Conceived in 2012, Formula E’s mission is to reinvent racing and move the sport into the 21st century. Since 2014, the NIO Formula E Team has been competing in the Formula E championship, winning the inaugural Drivers Championship in July 2015.

EVBox is the leading global manufacturer of electric vehicle charging stations and EV charging management software with installed base of 50,000 charging points across more than 980 cities and 30 countries worldwide.

Kristof Vereenooghe, CEO EVBox: “We are very proud of becoming the NIO Formula E Team’s first sponsor. Both NIO and EVBox have a profound belief that the automotive industry is on the brink of fundamental change. Both organizations believe that the future of mobility is electric and want to accelerate such transition in all continents, starting with North America, Europe, and Asia. We see this sponsorship as the first step in what I hope and expect will be a very successful partnership between NIO and EVBox. The future may even include partnering on more projects, specifically in regions such as EMEA and the Americas.”

Lihong Qin, NIO Founder and President: “We are very pleased to partner with EVBox and welcome them into the NIO family. The Formula E Championship has delivered on its vision of bringing exciting, all electric racing to city-centres around the world and we, together with partners such as EVBox, aim to compete to win multiple events over the coming years. As a company, NIO is at an extremely exciting phase. Not only is our Formula E Team commencing its fourth successive season, but we launched our first production road vehicle — the NIO ES8 SUV — on 16th December in China, the largest automotive market globally. I have no doubt that our racing partnership with EVBox will prove a great success, not only on track, but also in providing opportunities of investigating further clean energy projects together.”
