MINI Cooper S E Countryman ALL4 PHEV was best-seller in July in Italy

The Italian plug-in passenger car market was up 127% Year-on-Year, having registered 409 units in July, with the YTD tally now at 2.675 units, up 64% YoY.

Last month, the hot selling Mini Countryman PHEV scored 57 registrations, beating by just one unit the BMW 225xe Active Tourer (56 units), while the second-generation Smart fortwo ED ended the month in third, with 42 registrations, the nameplate best result in over three years.

Year-to-date, the Nissan Leaf is in the lead, with 314 registrations, followed by the BMW 225xe Active Tourer (293 units) and the Mercedes GLC350e (226).

The PEV Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) market is in positive ground, up 2% this year to 334 units, with the Nissan e-NV200 Van leading (178 registrations) the market, ahead of the Citröen Berlingo EV (52 units) and Peugeot Partner EV (31).

Italy is the largest market in Europe for LPG and NG, with Natural Gas passenger cars market being down 38% to 18.524 units, with the LCV (N1) category also down, by 26%, to 2.224 units.

Reversely, LPG cars (M1) and vans (N1) are growing, with the first category up 28% to 83.271 units, while the second category is up 43% to 1.737 units.
