GreenTeam Formula electric car smashed the previous world record when it accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 1.779 seconds.
The previous record of 1.785 seconds was held by the Grimsel electric car built by Formula Student team at the Academic Motorsports Club Zurich.
The 100kW all-wheel drive electric car designed to race in the Formula Student competitions, is powered by four motors and a 6.62kWh battery package. With a vehicle’s weight of 160 kg, the power to weight ratio is 1,6 kg/kW.
According to the Daily Telegraph, the Guinness World Records may confirm the electric vehicle acceleration time in a couple of weeks.
