A group of 12 journalists are currently on a 7,000 km route from Irkutsk to Ekaterinburg to see how Cayenne S E-Hybrid and the Panamera S E-Hybrid plug-in hybrids cope with the peculiarities of the weather and landscape.
The goal of the project is showing off how the plug-in hybrids can deal with tough Siberian weather, absolutely awful terrain, and one of the most harsh landscapes on the planet.
And as they passed the half-way stage of the epic trip, the journalists said it was clear the Cayenne S E-Hybrid and the Panamera S E-Hybrid were more than equipped for the cold.
Both the Cayenne S E-Hybrid and Panamera S E-Hybrid are powered by the same 416 horsepower hybrid powertrain consisting of a three-liter V6 engine and an electric motor.
In the Panamera S E-Hybrid this system can manage an average fuel consumption of 3.1 l/100 km (75.8 mpg US) with CO2 emissions of 71 g/km while the Cayenne S E-Hybrid does 3.4 l/100 km (69.2 mpg US) with CO2 emissions of 79 g/km.
