All major automakers are posting December sales numbers for plug-in electric vehicles.

Nissan LEAF Sales of the all-electric Nissan LEAF totaled 1,889 units, up 41% compared to December of 2015 when Nissan sold 1,347 LEAF EV’s. In terms of year-to-date results in 2016, 14,006 Nissan LEAFs were sold, which is down by 18.9% compared with 2015 when 17,269 were sold. Nissan introduced the 2016 all-electric LEAF with an available 30 kWh battery that provides an EPA-estimated range of 107 miles – a 27-percent increase over the previous 24 kWH battery. | |
Chevrolet Volt Volt had its best month and year ever. Chevrolet Volt sold 3,691 units last month, up 74.6 percent compared to December of 2015 when Chevy sold 2.114 Volts. Overall for the year, 24,739 Chevrolet Volt plug-ins have been sold, which is up by 30.7% compared to 2015 when 15,393 units were sold. | |
Toyota Prius Prime Prius Plug-in Hybrid sold 1,641 units during the month, after selling 781 units in November. The Prius Prime PHV achieves a remarkable EPA-estimated 133 MPGe and MSRP that will range from $27,100 for the base Prius Prime Plus grade. | |
Ford C-Max Energi Ford C-MAX Energi sold 1,289 units in December. Previously in November, Ford sold 721 C-MAX Energi plug-ins. Overall for the year, 7,957 C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrids have been sold. | |

Cadillac ELR GM sold 3 Cadillac ELRs last month. In terms of year-to-date, sales of the Cadillac ELR now stand at 534. General Motors has pulled the plug on the Cadillac ELR after years of dismal sales. Cadillac only managed to sell 1,354 units of the ELR in 2014, while only 1,024 were delivered during last year. | |

Toyota Mirai Toyota sold 116 Mirai fuel-cell electric sedans last month, after selling 105 units in November. Overall for the year, 1,034 Mirai FCVs have been sold. The Mirai is priced MSRP $57,500 plus an $835 destination fee. With combined state and federal incentives of $13,000 available to many customers, the purchase price could potentially fall to under $45,000. |
