London Roads Become Greener With New All-Electric Taxi Service

econnect-leafeConnect Cars, one of only a few all-electric chauffeuring services operating in London, has taken delivery of seven Nissan LEAFs, with a further 14 to be delivered during 2014.

Based in the heart of CanaryWharf, eConnect Cars is helping revolutionise the London taxi scene, providing 100% electric vehicles to business clientele with every journey having zero tailpipe emissions.

Using top of the range, Nissan LEAFs to provide a comfortable (and near-silent) journey, eConnect Cars has already accumulated a healthy client base including, national law firm Maclay Murray & Spens LLP.

As the world’s best selling 100% electric car, the Nissan LEAF is proving to be an increasingly popular choice for businesses across the UK.  Appropriately nicknamed ‘the big smoke’, London is the ideal location to start enforcing greener solutions and as the LEAF emits zero emissions when driving, eConnect Cars won’t be impacting on the already polluted environment compared to other chauffeur solutions. Plus being fully electric means eConnect Cars won’t have to contend with increasing prices at the pumps.

Alistair Clarke, founder of eConnect Cars, commented: “The development in the technology and inherent capabilities of electric vehicles are the prime reasons for why we have an opportunity to apply a practical, intelligent approach to the London private hire scene, something I wanted to convey with eConnect Cars.

“There’s a big window of opportunity to do things smarter when it comes to urban mobility, and the introduction of an all-electric LEAF fleet has been a way in for us.”

Barry Beeston, Nissan’s Corporate Sales Director, said: “More and more corporate organizations are requesting zero emissions transport when selecting their taxi or chauffeur account provider, so companies like e-Connect will have a real advantage over competitors who cannot offer this service, at the request of their customers.

“The LEAF range has something for all operators, from the entry level Visia with a strong focus on affordability, to the Tekna offering a high spec vehicle for chauffeur work.

“With low noise, both driver and passenger will enjoy relaxed journey in a comfortable environment, reassured by the fact their journey will be less harmful to the city and its inhabitants by travelling in an eConnect LEAF.”
