Toyota is joining the electric discount fray with an affordable 3-year lease deal on the 2013 Toyota RAV4 EV.
Toyota this month is promoting the option of a $299-a-month, three-year lease with $3,999 due at signing for the 2013 RAV4 EV, along with a 60-month, no-interest loan.
The company is hoping the affordable monthly payment will make the vehicle more attractive to customers put off by its high $49,800 MSRP.
The deal is offered as part of a wider Labor Day week-long sales event and is available through September 3 in the Los Angeles and San Francisco regions, which are the crossover’s main markets.
The 2013 Toyota RAV4 EV discounts are latest move in EV price war. Other automakers are also reducing electric-vehicle prices to kick-start sales, including the Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Volt, Ford Focus EV, Honda Fit EV, and already low prices for the Smart Fortwo ED, Fiat 500e and Chevrolet Spark EV.
