
Volkswagen Group of America Electronics Research Laboratory (ERL) is teaming up with Silicon Valley’s Plug and Play Tech Center to create a startup accelerator for next-generation automotive technologies.
The Volkswagen ERL Technology Accelerator Powered by Plug and Play on Thursday announced plans to back 10 startups that are working on technology for motor vehicles at the Plug and Play Tech Center in Sunnyvale.
Participating companies will receive access to hundreds of investors, corporations, and mentors within the Plug and Play network, exposure at Plug and Play events, regular educational seminars, and office space.
The program is currently accepting applications from technology startups in several areas including; social media/recommendation engines, vehicle related mobile device integration, parking apps, detection apps, display/data integration, voice/sound recognition, and visual computing.
Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Plug and Play Tech Center specializes in growing tech startups. Its global network includes more than 300 companies, 180 investors and university and corporate partners.
Volkswagen Group’s Electronics Research Laboratory in Belmont, Calif., focuses on applied research and development initiatives in North America.
