Renault announced that its 1+1 tandem-seat Twizy EV will cost 6,900 Euros plus a monthly 45 Euro battery lease charge when it goes on sale at the end of 2011.
The 2.4 meter long Renault Twizy has a maximum driving range of 115 km (72 miles), with a full charge of its batteries taking three and a half hours through any domestic supply.
Tests conducted in Paris suggest that the Twizy can shave up to seven minutes from a journey which would take 30 minutes in a Smart-sized car, and although the Twizy’s design is less conventional, Renault says that the safety cell and airbags protect the driver and offer complete safety.
The Twizy is on show, along with several new concepts from Renault, at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.
