Falken has expanded its long-standing partnership with Porsche by developing a bespoke version of its AZENIS FK520 tyre for the all-new Porsche Cayenne Electric. Designed as original equipment (OE), the new tyre has been engineered specifically to meet the performance demands of Porsche’s upcoming electric SUV.
The tyre carries Porsche’s exclusive NG0 marking, indicating it has been jointly developed, tested, approved and homologated for factory fitment on the Cayenne Electric.
The new Porsche Cayenne Electric features a staggered tyre setup, with 255/55 R20 110Y XL tyres at the front and 305/45 R20 116Y XL tyres at the rear. The Falken AZENIS FK520 (NG0) will be available with selected wheel options through Porsche’s vehicle configurator.
Engineered for Electric Performance
The bespoke AZENIS FK520 has been tailored to complement the Cayenne Electric’s chassis tuning, delivering a balance of agility, traction and high-speed stability expected from a performance-focused electric SUV.
As an Ultra High Performance (UHP) tyre, it incorporates an optimized rubber compound designed to reduce rolling resistance, which can help improve driving range depending on road and driving conditions. Falken also optimized the tyre for precise steering response and confident stability at higher speeds.
Rated Y, the tyre is approved for speeds of up to 300 km/h (186 mph).
The tyre’s architecture has also been developed to maximize traction and efficiently transfer the instant torque produced by electric powertrains. This is particularly important for high-performance electric SUVs, where substantial vehicle weight and powerful acceleration place additional demands on the tyres.
Strengthening Falken’s Porsche Partnership
The latest OE approval marks another milestone in the collaboration between Falken and Porsche, which extends from road cars to motorsport.
Since 2011, Falken has competed with Porsche machinery in the ADAC RAVENOL Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) and the Nürburgring 24 Hours, where its blue-and-green Porsche 911 GT3 R has become a familiar presence.
The companies have also collaborated on production vehicles, including the approval of Falken’s AZENIS FK510 tyres for the Porsche Macan in 2019.
Commenting on the new development, Christian Stolting, OE Sales Director at Dunlop Tyre Europe GmbH, home of the Falken tyre brand, said the AZENIS FK520 (NG0) demonstrates the company’s expertise in developing advanced tyre technology for premium electric vehicles while reinforcing its position in the high-performance battery-electric SUV segment.
Falken says all of its tyres are manufactured to defined quality standards and are backed by a five-year warranty for factory-fitted tyres and those purchased through authorized Falken partners, subject to applicable warranty terms and conditions.
