LiveWire Begins Production of Affordable S4 Honcho Electric Motorcycles

LiveWire, Harley-Davidson’s electric motorcycle division, has officially launched production of its new S4 Honcho electric motorcycle lineup, marking a significant step in the company’s efforts to expand electric motorcycling to a wider audience.

The new platform includes two models—the S4 Honcho Trail and S4 Honcho Street—with customer deliveries scheduled to begin in summer 2026.

Originally revealed as concept motorcycles during Harley-Davidson Homecoming in Milwaukee and later showcased at EICMA in Milan, the S4 Honcho platform represents LiveWire’s move into the lightweight electric motorcycle segment. Designed to be more affordable and accessible than the company’s larger electric bikes, the new models target commuters, new riders, outdoor enthusiasts, and urban mobility users.

A New Entry Point Into Electric Riding

According to LiveWire, the S4 Honcho was developed to make electric riding more approachable while maintaining the key advantages of EV technology, including instant torque, low operating costs, and simplified ownership.

Both motorcycles are classified as 125cc-equivalent mini motos, making them eligible for A1 licenses in Europe and the United Kingdom, while also fitting within standard motorcycle endorsement requirements in the United States. This broadens the potential customer base across major global markets.

The company will also offer a growing catalog of accessories, allowing riders to customize the motorcycles for commuting, recreation, travel, or light adventure use.

Lightweight Design With Practical Performance

The S4 Honcho platform focuses on everyday usability. Equipped with dual removable battery packs and weighing approximately 250 pounds, the motorcycles are designed to deliver agile handling in urban environments while remaining versatile enough for recreational riding.

Both models offer:

– Top speed of up to 59 mph
– 0-30 mph acceleration in approximately 3.0 seconds
– Up to 53 miles of WMTC range
– Up to 73 miles of range at a constant 20 mph
– Standard reverse functionality

The dual removable battery system provides a combined capacity of 3.48 kWh. Batteries can be charged on or off the motorcycle, offering added convenience for riders without dedicated garage charging. Charging from 20% to 80% takes approximately two hours using a standard 110V outlet.

Trail and Street Models Tailored for Different Riders

While both motorcycles share the same electric platform, LiveWire has differentiated the models with unique styling and ergonomics.

The S4 Honcho Trail is aimed at riders seeking light off-road capability and outdoor adventures. It features a taller 32-inch seat height and weighs 253 pounds.

The S4 Honcho Street is optimized for urban commuting and daily transportation. It features a slightly lower 31-inch seat height and weighs 266 pounds.

Both models ride on 12-inch wheels and include purpose-built styling elements that reflect their intended use cases.

Partnerships Support Global Expansion

Production of the S4 Honcho platform is being handled by KYMCO, leveraging the Taiwanese manufacturer’s extensive expertise in vehicle production. LiveWire is also utilizing Harley-Davidson’s established global dealer network to support sales, service, and customer reach.

These partnerships are expected to play an important role in scaling production efficiently while supporting the company’s broader international growth strategy.

The start of production represents another milestone in LiveWire’s evolution as it expands its portfolio beyond premium electric motorcycles and into more affordable urban mobility solutions.

Pricing and Availability

The new S4 Honcho lineup arrives with pricing aimed at making electric motorcycling more accessible.

The S4 Honcho Trail starts at $4,999 MSRP, while the S4 Honcho Street is priced from $5,499 MSRP.

Production began in late May 2026, with the first motorcycles expected to reach authorized LiveWire dealerships during summer 2026. Availability will continue expanding across supported global markets throughout the remainder of 2026.
