Volkswagen has unveiled the all-new ID. Polo, marking the all-electric evolution of one of its most successful nameplates. With more than 20 million units sold globally, the Polo enters the EV era with a focus on affordability, efficiency, and advanced technology.
Developed in Wolfsburg, the ID. Polo aims to bring electric mobility to a broader audience, combining compact dimensions with improved interior space, modern design, and competitive pricing starting from €24,995 in Germany.
Up to 454 km Range and Fast Charging as Standard
The Volkswagen ID. Polo is offered with three power outputs: 85 kW, 99 kW, and 155 kW. Two battery options are available, balancing cost and performance.
Entry-level versions use a 37 kWh LFP battery, delivering up to 329 km of WLTP range and charging from 10% to 80% in around 23 minutes. The more powerful variant features a 52 kWh NMC battery, extending range up to 454 km while maintaining a similar fast-charging time of approximately 24 minutes.
Front-wheel drive comes standard across the lineup, ensuring efficiency and familiar driving dynamics for urban and daily use.
Compact Outside, More Spacious Inside
Despite its compact footprint—just over 4 meters in length—the ID. Polo benefits from Volkswagen’s MEB+ platform, which significantly improves space utilization.
Boot capacity grows to 441 liters, a 25% increase over the combustion-powered Polo. With the rear seats folded, cargo space expands to 1,240 liters, making it one of the more practical options in the electric supermini segment.
This added versatility positions the ID. Polo as both a city-friendly EV and a capable everyday family car.
New Design Language and Digital Interior
The ID. Polo introduces Volkswagen’s “Pure Positive” design language, characterized by clean lines, balanced proportions, and subtle references to classic models like the Golf.
Inside, the cabin emphasizes simplicity and technology. A 10-inch Digital Cockpit sits behind the steering wheel, while a large 13-inch central touchscreen handles infotainment functions. The system supports voice control, smartphone integration, and over-the-air updates.
High-quality materials, improved ergonomics, and optional features such as ambient lighting and premium seat finishes elevate the cabin beyond typical expectations in this segment.
Advanced Driver Assistance and One-Pedal Driving
The ID. Polo brings a wide range of driver assistance systems as standard, including lane assist and blind-spot monitoring. A highlight is the optional Connected Travel Assist, which adds semi-autonomous driving capabilities and can even recognize traffic lights—an uncommon feature in this class.
One-pedal driving is also included, allowing drivers to accelerate and decelerate using a single pedal, improving efficiency and ease of use in urban traffic.
Trim Levels: Trend, Life, and Style
Volkswagen offers the ID. Polo in three trims, each targeting different buyer needs.
The entry-level Trend includes LED headlights, fast charging capability, and key safety systems. The mid-range Life adds adaptive cruise control, a rear-view camera, and enhanced connectivity features.
At the top, the Style trim introduces IQ.LIGHT matrix LED headlights, premium interior materials, heated seats and steering wheel, and extended ambient lighting. It also features an upgraded ID. Light system that provides visual cues for navigation and safety alerts.
Premium Features from Higher Segments
The ID. Polo pushes segment boundaries with optional features typically found in larger, more expensive vehicles. These include a Harman Kardon sound system, panoramic glass roof, and even pneumatic massage seats with multiple programs.
Such features reinforce Volkswagen’s strategy of bringing higher-end technology into more accessible EVs.
Vehicle-to-Load: Power on the Go
A standout feature is vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, allowing the ID. Polo to supply up to 3.6 kW of power to external devices. This effectively turns the car into a mobile energy source for tools, outdoor gear, or e-bikes.
Pricing and Availability
Pre-sales for the Volkswagen ID. Polo have already started in Germany. The initial launch model, equipped with the 155 kW motor and 52 kWh battery, starts at €33,795. More affordable versions, including the €24,995 entry-level variant, are expected to follow later.
A Key Step in Volkswagen’s EV Strategy
The ID. Polo represents a major step in Volkswagen’s push toward mass-market electric mobility. By combining competitive pricing, practical range, and advanced features, it aims to set a new benchmark in the compact EV segment.
As competition intensifies in the affordable EV space, the ID. Polo could become one of the most important electric hatchbacks in Europe over the coming years.
