IONNA Celebrates Two Years with Rapid EV Charging Network Expansion

IONNA, the EV charging joint venture backed by eight major automakers, is marking its second anniversary with significant growth and a clear focus on improving the charging experience across the United States.

In just 24 months, the company has built a fast-growing, road trip-ready EV charging network that continues to expand at pace.

The rapid rollout of IONNA’s high-powered charging stations has been driven by strong collaboration with utilities and industry organizations. Partnerships with groups such as the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) have enabled faster deployment and improved efficiency across multiple regions.

More than 40 utilities have contributed to bringing IONNA “Rechargeries” online, with several energizing multiple locations in under a year. In early 2026 alone, over 200 additional charging bays were activated, bringing the total number of live bays to nearly 1,000 nationwide.

Driver-Focused Pricing and Benefits

IONNA is doubling down on its customer-first approach by expanding its pricing strategy. Building on its “Friends & Family” model introduced in 2025, the network is rolling out a broader suite of benefits designed to simplify and reduce charging costs.

These include:

– Everyday base discounts without requiring a subscription
– Optional OEM-backed subscription plans
– Complimentary charging credits for new EV buyers
– Loyalty rewards and prepaid discounted charging options

The goal is to provide flexible, transparent pricing that caters to both occasional and frequent EV drivers.

Strong Growth Pipeline and New Locations

IONNA’s expansion pipeline remains robust. More than 4,700 charging bays have already been contracted, with nearly 1,500 currently under construction or in advanced stages of development.

The network now features over 100 live locations across the country, including newly opened full-scale sites in Georgia and Colorado. Additional innovation is on the way, with a new site in Texas set to debut a second automated convenience store powered by cashierless technology.

Building Community Through EV Adoption

To celebrate its anniversary, IONNA hosted events across more than 25 locations, bringing together EV drivers and advocates. During the celebration, the network delivered over 100 MWh of energy in a single day—highlighting both usage growth and strong community engagement.

Looking ahead, IONNA plans to offer an introductory rate of $0.20/kWh during the first week of operation at every new location opening this year, giving drivers an accessible way to experience the network.

Beyond Charging: Expanding the Brand

IONNA is also extending its presence beyond infrastructure with the launch of a merchandise store. Featuring travel-inspired gear such as apparel, accessories, and everyday essentials, the collection reflects the brand’s focus on road trips and the broader EV lifestyle.

The Road Ahead

With strong backing from leading automakers, rapid infrastructure growth, and a clear emphasis on user experience, IONNA is positioning itself as a major player in the evolving EV charging landscape. After just two years, the network’s momentum shows no signs of slowing as it continues to scale nationwide.
