Toyota and Lexus Simplify Home EV Charging with Treehouse Partnership

The moment you drive home in your new 2026 Toyota or Lexus battery electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid, one question quickly follows: how will you charge it?

To make that decision easier for U.S. customers, Toyota Motor North America has partnered with Treehouse, a software-driven electrification platform focused on streamlining home EV charger purchase and installation.

As EV adoption accelerates across the United States, home EV charging is becoming a core part of the ownership experience. Toyota and Lexus aim to ensure that experience is just as smooth as their vehicles.

A One-Stop Shop for Level 2 Home Charging

Treehouse stands out by offering a fully managed, end-to-end installation process for Level 2 AC home charging.

Instead of juggling contractors, electricians, and multiple appointments, customers get:

  • Virtual project scoping using proprietary technology
  • Upfront installation quotes within 48 hours
  • A single on-site visit for hardware installation
  • Licensed, vetted electricians handling assessment and upgrades

All that’s required upfront is a short survey and a few photos of the home’s electrical setup. From permitting to final installation, Treehouse manages the entire project.

“Toyota and Lexus vehicles have a reputation for being easy to own and enjoyable to drive, so the home-charging experience should be as well,” said Thibaut de Barros Conti, Vice President, Business Incubation & Development, TMNA.

Standard Dual-Voltage Charger for 2026 Models

For 2026 and newer models, all Toyota and Lexus BEVs and PHEVs in the U.S. will come standard with a dual-voltage 120V/240V AC home charging cable.

This means owners can choose between:

  • Level 1 charging (120V) — using a standard household outlet
  • Level 2 charging (240V) — for significantly faster charging

With a maximum output of 7.7 kW, the dual-voltage cable can charge a vehicle from roughly 10% to full overnight under ideal conditions.

While California and other ZEV states mandate dual-voltage charging cables for BEVs, Toyota has been ahead of the curve — including the hardware on BEVs since the 2024 model year and expanding it to PHEVs starting with the 2026 model year nationwide.

The included charging cable carries:

  • A 3-year warranty for Toyota vehicles
  • A 4-year warranty for Lexus vehicles

For many homeowners, simply installing a 240V outlet through Treehouse unlocks Level 2 charging using the included cable.

Optional: ChargePoint Home Flex for Even Faster Charging

For drivers who want shorter charging times, Treehouse also offers the hardwired ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 charger.

Depending on vehicle and configuration, it can reduce charging time by up to 30% compared to the standard dual-voltage cable.

The charger can be configured with:

  • SAE J3400 (NACS) plug for 2026 and newer BEVs
  • SAE J1772 plug for 2023–2025 BEVs and current or past PHEVs

Treehouse backs installations with a two-year installation warranty, in addition to ChargePoint’s three-year hardware warranty.

Making EV Ownership Easier in America

As more American drivers switch to electric, simplifying home charging is critical. For many households, installing a Level 2 charger is the single biggest infrastructure step in going electric.

By integrating Treehouse directly into the EV purchase journey, Toyota and Lexus are removing friction from the process — offering clear pricing, vetted electricians, and turnkey installation.

“We’re thrilled to work with Toyota to enhance the electrified vehicle and home charging experience for Toyota and Lexus customers,” said Eric Owski, co-founder and CEO of Treehouse.

For U.S. buyers considering a 2026 Toyota or Lexus BEV or PHEV, the message is clear: charging at home doesn’t have to be complicated. With bundled hardware and streamlined installation support, going electric just became easier.
