Volvo’s Cross Country Legacy Goes Fully Electric with the EX60

On the same day Volvo Cars unveiled the all-electric EX60 to the world, the brand also pulled back the curtain on a tougher, more adventurous sibling: the Volvo EX60 Cross Country.

The EX60 Cross Country delivers everything that makes the standard EX60 stand out — a class-leading electric range, fast charging capabilities, and cutting-edge technology designed to make driving safer, simpler, and more enjoyable. But this version goes a step further, blending Volvo’s electric future with its long-standing Cross Country DNA.

First introduced back in 1997, Volvo’s Cross Country models have always represented freedom, capability, and exploration. With the EX60 Cross Country, that heritage enters a new electric era. The result is a bolder, more rugged expression of the EX60 — a car made for drivers who refuse to stay on the beaten path.

“The EX60 Cross Country is the EX60 for anyone with a ‘go anywhere’ attitude,” says Erik Severinson, Volvo Cars’ Chief Commercial Officer. “Built to do more and see more, it embodies exploration and achievement. We invented this segment, and the EX60 was the perfect next Volvo to receive the Cross Country treatment.”

Visually, the EX60 Cross Country stands apart immediately. It introduces an exclusive new exterior color, Frost Green, inspired by Scandinavian landscapes and available only on this model. Unique design details further highlight its special position within the Volvo lineup.

Cross Country-exclusive wheels, distinctive branding on the front and rear bumpers, and subtle badging on the D-pillar reinforce its identity. Brushed stainless-steel skid plates at the front and rear add a purposeful edge, while wider, more rugged wheel arches give the SUV a stronger, more confident stance.

But this car isn’t just about looks. As an SUV, the EX60 already offers a higher seating position that improves visibility and driver confidence. The Cross Country takes that advantage even further.

Compared to the standard EX60, the Cross Country sits 20 millimetres higher off the ground. When needed, the available air suspension can raise the ride height by an additional 20 millimetres, providing extra clearance and control on rougher terrain.

That same air suspension can also lower the vehicle at higher speeds, improving aerodynamics, stability, and overall efficiency — a major benefit for long highway journeys where maximizing electric range matters most.

The Volvo EX60 Cross Country is now available for pre-order in select markets. Buyers will be able to choose between two all-wheel-drive electric powertrains. The first to launch is the P10 AWD Electric, offering up to 397 miles of range 640 km, followed shortly by the P12 AWD Electric, which delivers an even longer driving range.
