DENZA Z Debuts with 1,582 HP, Triple-Motor Power and 9-Minute FLASH Charging

DENZA has officially unveiled the all-new DENZA Z, an all-electric supercar designed to combine extreme performance, cutting-edge technology and ultra-fast charging. Making its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the new flagship introduces a triple-motor powertrain producing 1,582 HP, advanced DiSus-M suspension and BYD’s latest FLASH Charging technology that can recharge the battery from 10% to 97% in just nine minutes.

The premium EV brand, part of the BYD Group, says the Z has been engineered to redefine expectations for electric performance cars by eliminating many of the compromises traditionally associated with high-performance EVs.

Four Versions Confirmed

DENZA has confirmed four variants of the Z lineup:

– Z Coupe
– Z Spider
– Z Racing
– Z Special Edition

The Special Edition is being developed specifically for Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record attempts later this year.

The unveiling at Goodwood was led by BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li alongside Formula One World Champion Jenson Button.

Performance That Rivals the World’s Fastest Supercars

At the heart of every DENZA Z sits the brand’s new e3 Sports Car Platform, featuring a triple-motor configuration with one electric motor at the front and two independently controlled rear motors.

Performance figures are impressive:

– 1,582 HP
– 1,240 Nm of torque
– 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h): 2.25 seconds (Coupe)
– Top speed: 186 mph (300 km/h)

The more track-focused Z Racing lowers the sprint time to just 1.96 seconds when equipped with optional semi-slick tires while increasing top speed to 217 mph (349 km/h).

Even more extreme is the Z Special Edition, which develops more than 1,972 HP and is expected to accelerate from 0-62 mph in under 1.7 seconds.

FLASH Charging Brings Refueling-Like Convenience

One of the biggest highlights of the DENZA Z is its next-generation charging capability.

Powered by BYD’s 76-kWh second-generation Blade Battery, the Z supports the company’s new 1,500-kW FLASH Charging system.

Charging times include:

– 10% to 70% in 5 minutes
– 10% to 97% in 9 minutes
– 20% to 97% in 12 minutes at -30°C

According to DENZA, the technology enables drivers to fully enjoy the car’s performance without lengthy charging stops.

The battery also benefits from improved durability, reduced capacity degradation and enhanced safety thanks to BYD’s latest lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology.

Up to 254 Miles of Range

Despite its supercar credentials, the DENZA Z offers respectable driving range.

Estimated range figures include:

– Coupe: 254 miles (409 km)
– Spider: 248 miles (399 km)
– Racing: 236 miles (380 km)

The battery is integrated directly into the chassis using BYD’s Cell-to-Body (CTB) architecture, improving structural rigidity while reducing weight and maximizing interior space.

Aerodynamics Designed for Maximum Downforce

The Z follows DENZA’s “Technology Drives Elegance” design philosophy with sleek proportions and carefully sculpted aerodynamic elements.

Functional highlights include:

– Active airflow management
– S-shaped front airflow channel
– Carbon-fiber aerodynamic components on Racing models
– Optional adjustable carbon-fiber rear wing

The Racing version generates up to 1,060 kg of downforce at 217 mph, while the Special Edition pushes that figure beyond 2,000 kg thanks to an active aerodynamic package.

Motorsport-Inspired Cabin

Inside, the DENZA Z combines premium materials with advanced digital technology.

Key features include:

– 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster
– 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen
– Google Built-in
– Wireless smartphone charging
– Devialet premium audio system
– Heated, ventilated and massaging front seats
– Carbon fiber, suede-effect upholstery and metal trim

The steering wheel features dedicated physical buttons for Boost and Track modes, allowing instant access to performance settings.

Track Mode also records lap times, G-force data and customizable vehicle dynamics, giving drivers detailed telemetry for circuit driving.

Advanced Chassis Technology

The DENZA Z introduces several innovative technologies designed to improve both handling and stability.

Among the highlights are:

– DiSus-M magnetorheological adaptive suspension
– Intelligent triple-motor torque vectoring
– Vehicle Motion Control (VMC)
– Carbon-ceramic brakes
– Tyre Burst Control System
– 15-in-1 integrated electric drive unit

Together, these systems deliver precise torque distribution, faster control responses and improved vehicle stability during both everyday driving and track use.

Premium Equipment Comes Standard

Unlike many performance cars that rely heavily on optional extras, the DENZA Z arrives with an extensive list of standard equipment.

Standard features include:

– Heated, ventilated and massaging front seats
– Soft-closing doors
– Digital rear-view mirror
– Dolby Atmos-enabled Devialet sound system
– Vehicle-to-Load (V2L)
– Wireless phone charging
– Remote vehicle control via the DENZA app
– Comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems

Customers can further personalize the vehicle with 10 exterior colors, 10 interior color schemes, multiple brake caliper finishes and additional trim options.

Availability

Following its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the DENZA Z Coupe, Spider and Racing models will open for orders this summer in selected markets. Customer deliveries are expected to begin before the end of the year, while the Z Special Edition continues development ahead of planned Nürburgring record attempts.

With blistering acceleration, advanced chassis technology and industry-leading charging speeds, the DENZA Z represents one of the most ambitious electric performance cars introduced to date and signals DENZA’s intention to compete at the very top of the global EV market.
