Peugeot Polygon Concept Hints at Next-Generation 208 Design

PEUGEOT is breaking the walls with this fun concept car, having already exclusively previewed it on POLYGON City, an island within the Fortnite universe.

PEUGEOT POLYGON CONCEPT is a true dynamic proving ground, testing and showcasing numerous innovations that PEUGEOT will introduce from 2027 onwards – especially the revolutionary Hypersquare steering control and Steer-by-Wire technology.

EXCEPTIONAL AGILITY THANKS TO HYPERSQUARE AND STEER-BY-WIRE STEERING

With POLYGON CONCEPT, PEUGEOT’s Hypersquare becomes a tangible reality, allowing drivers to discover the benefits and unique driving pleasure this new technology delivers.

For over a century, motorists have driven with the traditional circular steering wheel. Today, with Hypersquare, PEUGEOT breaks the mould and reimagines the wheel entirely.

Hypersquare is more than a new shape – it’s a new ergonomic approach to the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit and a fully electronic control system for the vehicle.

It’s paired with Steer-by-Wire electronic steering technology – no mechanical link between the steering and the wheels, just pure electronic control. This technology, proven in the aerospace industry, will be available on a production PEUGEOT vehicle from 2027.

Beyond traditional power steering, the system innovates by adjusting steering ratio based on speed. At low speeds – for parking or turning around – Hypersquare allows quick, easy manoeuvres without moving your hands or making multiple turns (with a maximum rotation of 170° in each direction – totalling just under a full turn – compared with three full turns with a traditional wheel).

At higher speeds, a small input of Hypersquare is enough to adjust the car’s trajectory.

The combination of Hypersquare and Steer-by-Wire delivers exceptional responsiveness and precision at high speed, unmatched comfort during manoeuvres, and a unique sense of hyper-agility.

Additionally, Steer-by-Wire technology provides the ideal road feedback, filtering out unwanted vibrations while still delivering beneficial feedback to help the driver understand road conditions.

ENHANCED DYNAMISM WITH A NEW IMMERSIVE PEUGEOT I-COCKPIT

More high-tech than ever, this new interpretation of the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit introduced in POLYGON CONCEPT puts innovation at the service of simplicity and driving pleasure.

The exclusive, revolutionary shape of the PEUGEOT Hypersquare steering wheel reinvents cockpit ergonomics: key controls are accessible at your fingertips via four circular pods at each corner, allowing you to keep your hands on the steering control without lifting a finger.

With the PEUGEOT POLYGON CONCEPT, the windscreen becomes the screen. No more dashboard displays – all information reflects onto the windscreen via a Micro-LED panel located behind Hypersquare.

This innovation offers a uniquely immersive experience for the driver, with an exceptional display size: 24 cm wide by 74 cm high – that’s the equivalent to a 31’’ screen.

The driver can also personalise the information projected onto the windscreen:

– When stationary: This revolutionary display technology connects the interior and exterior of the car. – the Micro-LEDs behind Hypersquare are visible from outside of the vehicle, allowing animations unique to POLYGON CONCEPT to be displayed. The interior and exterior lighting colour can be selected using an innovative rotary dial which houses its own LED screen, which also displays information such as the time and temperature.

– While driving: Each mode (Cruise, Fun, and Hyper) customises the visual environment inside and out. Interior and exterior animations are harmonised and synchronised in an immersive ecosystem.

The windscreen projection enhances the driving sensation in connection with the road, creating an even more engaging experience. Positioned directly in the driver’s line of sight, it maximises safety and avoids any distractions.

CHARISMATIC FRENCH DESIGN THAT DEFINES PEUGEOT’S NEXT CHAPTER

With POLYGON CONCEPT, Micro-LEDs also shape PEUGEOT’s new front end. The brand’s iconic three-claw light signature is reimagined in a horizontal layout that boldly reaffirms PEUGEOT’s identity while emphasising the car’s strong road presence.

Formed from a multitude of Micro-LED screens, whilst stationary this new light signature animates at the front and rear with various graphic and colour configurations, inspired by immersive visual and audio displays. Synchronisation between front and rear creates a harmonious surround that enhances PEUGEOT’s three-claw motif, that deliver unprecedented brightness.

Furthermore, a dedicated Micro-LED screen is located on the C pillar of the vehicle, providing the ultimate charging experience, next to the pop-up cable connector. This screen allows users to check the vehicle’s charge level without entering the car.

Beyond the new front end, POLYGON CONCEPT previews the overall design language of future PEUGEOTs: pure, simple and geometric shapes for a more feline stance than ever.

Because pleasure is also colour – and POLYGON CONCEPT is a manifesto of PEUGEOT’s enthusiasm for the future of motoring – the concept car features vibrant and playful accents: body panels, wheels, seat foam, and even laser-engraved Good Year tyres.

INGENUITY THAT BREAKS THE WALLS

With Hypersquare and the new generation PEUGEOT i-Cockpit, POLYGON CONCEPT introduces a completely new approach to interior space. The architecture has been redesigned, allowing for a reimagined dashboard which frees up cabin space. A new design which offers exceptional roominess for all.

OPTIMISED SPACE AND COMFORT FOR FRONT PASSENGERS

The space available to front passengers is further enhanced by a customisable dashboard layout. Each passenger can choose their favourite items according to their lifestyle and needs, thanks to dedicated holders (for items such as mobile phones, headphones, caps, backpacks and even skateboards)!

A BRIGHTER, MORE OPEN CABIN EXPERIENCE

The sense of space is further amplified by the exceptional brightness of the POLYGON CONCEPT cabin, thanks to an increased transparent surface that welcomes maximum natural light – akin to a glass canopy. This is achieved by pushing the windscreen forward and downward, removing the B-pillar.

REVOLUTIONARY SEAT DESIGN

The innovative seat design of the PEUGEOT POLYGON CONCEPT combines a 3D-printed shell with single-piece moulded foam. This allows for the creation of entirely new, comfortable shapes and a clean, geometric design that traditional fabric-covered seats simply cannot offer.

MORE FUN WITH ENDLESS CUSTOMISATION

PEUGEOT POLYGON CONCEPT takes vehicle personalisation to an entirely new level, adapting to individual’s tastes and to match their moods.

Inside and out, many elements are customisable – and this personalisation can be updated endlessly thanks to an optimised design that allows parts to be replaced in just a few minutes. Even the revolutionary Hypersquare steering wheel can be personalised with a choice of colours and materials, influencing the cabin’s overall atmosphere.

EXTERIOR PERSONALISATION EXTENDS FROM THE FRONT END TO THE TYRES

PEUGEOT’s partner Goodyear, has combined coloured sidewalls with cutting-edge laser engraving to enable bespoke customisation, creating a unique and unexpected styling effect, with different colours to match different configurations.

The PEUGEOT POLYGON CONCEPT Goodyear tyres are also equipped with advanced SightLine intelligent tyre technology.

Delivering real-time insights, to the interior i-Cockpit reflective display, about tyres and the road to drivers, enhancing performance and connectivity. Goodyear SightLine enables the PEUGEOT POLYGON CONCEPT to seamlessly recognise the fitted tyre when switching between configurations.

A SUSTAINABLE DESIGN APPROACH

PEUGEOT POLYGON CONCEPT has been designed to maximise the use of recycled materials throughout the vehicle.

The lacquer used for the interior paint contains components recycled from end-of-life tyres. The entire cabin – floor, ceiling, door panels, etc. – is covered in forged textile, an innovative material that reflects PEUGEOT’s commitment to a more circular economy. This textile is made from recycled seats from deconstructed PEUGEOT vehicles.

The seats feature a unique design with a shell made from recycled plastic (R-PET), produced using large-scale 3D printing – a first in the automotive industry, developed in collaboration with Spanish company Nagami.

POLYGON CONCEPT contains fewer parts than a traditional vehicle. Fewer parts mean a lighter car, greater efficiency, and easier assembly and disassembly at the end of its life cycle.

The seats consist of just three main components instead of dozens in a traditional seat: the shell, the structure, and the foam. The foam, developed with Belgian company Sixinch, specialists in foam furniture, is made from a single piece and coated with a tinted protective layer.

POLYGON CONCEPT has only two XXL butterfly doors instead of four conventional doors. This improves cabin accessibility and simplifies the design and manufacturing of each component, reducing the number of parts.

The wheel covers, including their fastening system, are made from recycled plastic (R-PET) and produced as a single piece using 3D printing.

Many components in POLYGON CONCEPT are easily replaceable, allowing the vehicle to evolve with its owner and encouraging longer ownership. This approach also contributes to extending the car’s lifespan.

The seat foam can be swapped in minutes for a new colour or a more enveloping shape, for example. The Hypersquare steering wheel, wheel covers, and customisable dashboard elements can all be easily replaced to suit changing tastes and needs.

EVERY DAY IS A NEW CAR DAY

With a multitude of configurations available, PEUGEOT POLYGON CONCEPT is a single vehicle with multiple sides.

To show just what is possible, PEUGEOT is showcasing three configuration examples which demonstrate just how much fun can be had with POLYGON.

ONE CONCEPT CAR, THREE CREATIONS, ENDLESS OPPORTUNITIES

URBAN: Sleek, compact, and effortlessly stylish — URBAN is designed to complement the cityscape. Its clean lines and modern detailing make it the perfect match for urban living.

PLAYER: Bold, dynamic, and performance-inspired — PLAYER stands out with its sporty silhouette and assertive presence. Built to look fast, even when standing still.

EXPLORER: Rugged, purposeful, and adventure-ready — EXPLORER features a tough exterior with elevated stance and protective accents, built to look as capable as it drives.

These three configurations have been introduced for the first time in POLYGON City, an island within the Fortnite game environment, just a few days ago. You can discover them in more detail by playing the Fortnite game.
