BYD unveils Seal 06 GT electric hot hatch

Chinese biggest NEV maker BYD has unveiled its all-electric Seal 06 GT hot hatch. Set to hit Chinese markets in mid-to-late September, the Seal 06 GT will have a pre-sale price range of 150,000 to 200,000 Yuan (approximately $21,150 to $28,200 USD).

Inspired by the Ocean-M concept, the Seal 06 GT boasts a sleek design, powerful performance, and advanced technology. International sales are expected to commence early in 2025.

Built on BYD’s e-platform 3.0 Evo, the Seal 06 GT showcases a sophisticated exterior with a sculpted hood and dimensions of 4630mm x 1880mm x 1490mm. Inside, the cabin offers a modern and tech-centric environment with features like a 15.6-inch adaptive floating screen, a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel, and a 12-inch head-up display.

Under the hood, the Seal 06 GT offers both single and dual-motor configurations. The single-motor variant delivers power outputs of 160 kW/310 Nm or 165 kW/330 Nm. The dual-motor version, equipped with a 110 kW front motor and a 200 kW rear motor, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. Battery options include 59.52 kWh and 72.96 kWh, providing estimated ranges of 505 km, 605 km, and 550 km under CLTC standards.

With its performance, advanced features and priced competitively, the Seal 06 GT the Volkswagen’s new ID.3 GTX Performance, particularly when it launches in Europe.
