E-Space Concept Leads Renault’s Electric Offensive at the 2026 Paris Motor Show

Renault is preparing a major showcase for the 2026 Paris Motor Show, bringing a broad mix of new electric vehicles, updated models, concept cars and new technologies to the event.

At the center of Renault’s presentation will be the Renault E-Space Concept, a new electric family-car concept making its global debut on October 12. The concept revives the spirit of the iconic Renault Espace, originally launched in 1984, while looking toward a new generation of electric and connected vehicles.

Renault says its current strategy is built around two key pillars: electric and hybrid technology. The company is also emphasizing continuous improvements to vehicles already on the road, including new LFP batteries, expanded driver-assistance and connectivity features, and Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence.

Renault E-Space Concept Debuts in Paris

The new Renault E-Space Concept is arguably the star of the brand’s 2026 Paris Motor Show lineup.

More than 40 years after the original Renault Espace arrived, the E-Space Concept offers a futuristic interpretation of the family-car formula. Renault describes it as part of its futuREady strategy, which puts user needs and the in-car experience at the center of vehicle development.

Measuring 4.70 meters in length, the concept features an expressive design finished in an elegant black rubé color. Its proportions are intended to demonstrate how Renault sees the next generation of family vehicles evolving in the electric era.

One of the most distinctive exterior elements is a wide U-shaped light signature at both the front and rear. The illuminated Renault diamond appears to float within the front-end design, giving the concept a particularly futuristic appearance.

The name itself combines Renault’s E-Tech electrification branding with the idea of a spacious, welcoming and technology-focused interior.

New Renault Megane E-Tech Electric Gets Major Upgrades

The Renault Megane E-Tech electric is also receiving a significant update for the Paris show.

Renault is upgrading the electric hatchback in several important areas, including its exterior design, battery technology, charging performance and onboard software.

The biggest technical change is the introduction of a 67 kWh LFP battery. Renault says the updated Megane E-Tech electric can achieve up to 500 km of range, while DC charging performance improves by 25 percent.

The battery can now charge from 15% to 80% in approximately 24 minutes, according to Renault.

The software side of the vehicle is evolving as well. The Megane will gain a new Smart Mode driving function, while Google’s Gemini AI will become part of the connected-car experience through OpenR Link.

Renault 5 Turbo 3E Brings 555 HP to Paris

Renault will also put the spotlight on one of its most dramatic electric projects: the Renault 5 Turbo 3E.

Described as an electric reboot of the legendary Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2 from the 1980s, the 5 Turbo 3E will be displayed as an engineering prototype that closely resembles a future production vehicle.

The electric mini-supercar uses two rear-mounted in-wheel motors and produces a claimed 555 horsepower and 4,800 Nm of torque. Renault says it is the most powerful street-legal Renault ever built.

A second example featuring original colors will demonstrate the extensive personalization possibilities Renault has in mind for the model.

Renault Twingo E-Tech Electric Adds Panoramic Glass Roof

The Twingo E-Tech electric is another Renault EV receiving an important update.

For the 2026 Paris Motor Show, Renault will showcase the new Twingobay panoramic glass roof, which measures 0.7 square meters. The roof is designed to increase natural light inside the cabin and create a greater feeling of space for passengers.

Renault says the multi-layer glass technology filters 99.9% of UV radiation and blocks most infrared radiation. A low-emissivity film also helps maintain thermal comfort throughout the year.

For customers in the UK, the Twingobay panoramic glass roof is planned for 2027, with pricing to be announced closer to launch.

The Twingo will also benefit from the arrival of Google Gemini, delivered through an optional over-the-air software update.

Renault Expands LFP Battery Technology Across Its EV Range

One of the most important developments at Renault’s 2026 Paris Motor Show stand may not be a new vehicle at all.

The automaker is progressively introducing lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries across its electric passenger-car lineup. Renault says the technology should help improve the price-to-range equation and make electric mobility more accessible.

Following the Twingo and Megane, Renault 5 E-Tech electric and Scenic E-Tech electric are set to receive LFP technology, followed by the Renault 4 E-Tech electric.

The batteries use a cell-to-pack architecture, with capacities of 27.5 kWh for Twingo, 37 kWh for Renault 5, and 67 kWh for Megane and Scenic. Renault also says its LFP-equipped EVs retain the patented Fireman Access system, designed to allow firefighters to flood the battery cells quickly in the event of a fire.

The broader rollout could be particularly significant because lower-cost battery technology is becoming increasingly important as automakers compete to make EVs more affordable.

Renault 8 Gordini Returns as an Electric Concept

Renault is also looking back at its performance-car heritage with the Renault 8 Gordini Concept.

The all-electric two-seat coupe reimagines the legendary Renault 8 Gordini as a modern performance concept with racing-inspired proportions. Renault says the design draws heavily from the rallying heritage of the original 1960s model while giving it an entirely contemporary interpretation.

Another heritage-inspired concept is the Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept, which combines the styling influence of the original Renault 4 Plein Air and JP4 with four-wheel drive and a more adventurous character.

Renault Rafale Hypnotic Adds a More Exclusive Option

The Renault Rafale hypnotic will make its appearance as a new limited edition based on the high-spec Rafale hyper hybrid E-Tech 4×4 300 hp Atelier Alpine.

Renault is positioning the special edition around exclusive styling and premium features, adding another high-end option to its electrified lineup.

New Trafic E-Tech Electric Highlights Renault’s Electric Vans

Renault’s electric push extends beyond passenger cars.

The company will showcase the new Renault Trafic Van E-Tech electric, which was recently named International Van of the Year 2027.

The all-electric van is designed for the European commercial-vehicle market and focuses on efficiency, technology, comfort, customization and scalability. Renault will display the model alongside its wider commercial-vehicle lineup at a dedicated Renault Pro+ stand.

Renault’s Electric Strategy Is About More Than New Models

Renault’s 2026 Paris Motor Show presentation highlights a broader strategy than simply launching new EVs.

The company is combining new electric models and concepts with ongoing upgrades to vehicles already in production. Battery technology, charging speeds, software, artificial intelligence and over-the-air updates are becoming increasingly important parts of the ownership experience.

The arrival of Gemini AI is particularly notable because Renault plans to deliver it to compatible vehicles through over-the-air updates. That means some existing vehicles can receive new digital functionality without requiring a workshop visit.

With the E-Space Concept, upgraded Megane E-Tech electric, Renault 5 Turbo 3E, Twingo E-Tech electric updates and broader LFP battery rollout, Renault’s Paris Motor Show lineup provides a clear look at where the company sees its electric strategy heading.

The 2026 Paris Motor Show will therefore be an important event for Renault, combining its historic design and performance identity with a growing focus on affordable electrification, connected technology and practical electric vehicles.
