The new Grandland X compact SUV will be the first Opel to be offered as a plug-in hybrid, CEO Michael Lohscheller said at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
“Our new Grandland X as plug-in hybrid is the next big example of the opportunities that await us as a member of the PSA group,” said Lohscheller at the press conference. “We will follow this path closely.”
The Grandland X will go on sale this month in Europe, and will be built in PSA’s plant in Sochaux, France.
The Grandland X is the second crossover jointly developed by Opel and PSA Group as part of a technology collaboration agreement signed with General Motors in 2012, following the smaller Crossland X.
Opel’s Grandland X shares PSA’s EMP2 platform with the Peugeot 3008, Citroen C5 Aircross and DS 7 Crossback models.
The portfolio of ultra-modern assistance and comfort features for the Grandland X is first class: Automatic Cruise Control with pedestrian detection and Automatic Emergency Braking, Driver Drowsiness Alert, Advanced Park Assist and the 360° Camera are just some highlights.
