April 2017 plug-in car sales in Sweden

The Swedish plug-in electric vehicle market registered 1.191 units in April, down 3% regarding the same month last year. Consequently, the EV market share dropped ever so slightly, to 4.2%, but still comfortably ahead of last year 3.6%.

The VW Passat GTE was the best-selling plug-in car for the fourth time in a row, with 218 deliveries, followed by the Nissan Leaf, with a record 189 registrations, its best monthly performance since it arrived in 2011, and the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV with 130 deliveries.

In the year-to-date ranking, the podium seats remain the same, with the VW Passat GTE leading, followed by the Outlander PHEV (685 units) and Nissan Leaf (503).

On the manufacturers ranking, Volkswagen (31%, down 2%) still holds the top place, followed by Mitsubishi (14%), BMW (12%) on the third place, with Volvo, Nissan and Tesla (all at 11%) just outside the podium.

In the Light Commercial Vehicles (N1) class, registrations were down 12% to 21 units, with the Renault Kangoo ZE outselling once again the Nissan e-NV200, winning by 8 to 6 units in April, with the French model also leading the YTD ranking, with 67 units.

Looking at other alternative fuels, this year CNG passenger cars are now up 9% year-on-year, to 981 units, while on the fuel cell front, the Toyota Mirai registered 1 unit last month.
