November plug-in sales in Italy and Finland

The Italian plug-in electric vehicle market is up 17% year-on-year, having registered 2.539 units this year, 226 of them last month.

The Nissan Leaf is the country favorite plug-in, with 392 units year-to-date, and November was no exception, being the best-seller last month, with 31 units, followed by the Renault Zoe (27 units) and the BMW 225xe Active Tourer (23).

The plug-in electric light commercial vehicle market is also on positive ground, up 6% this year, with Nissan being also leader in this category, with its e-NV200 van (284 registrations this year) leading the market, with a great advantage over the second placed Piaggio Porter EV (74 units).

Italy is the largest market in Europe for LPG and NG, both sharing the same trends according to the vehicle category, with LPG passenger car registrations down 18% (NG cars are also down 31%), while the LPG LCV market is jumping 134%, with the NG LCV category also growing, if at a more moderate rate of 11%.

Finland one of the fastest growing markets in Europe

With 128 new plug-in electric vehicles registered in November in Finland, registrations surged 266% year-on-year, making this one of the fastest growing markets in Europe, with year-to-date sales jumping 112% regarding last year and the market share firmly above 1%.

The Year-to-date leader Volvo XC90 PHEV was surpassed in November by the Volkswagen Passat GTE, which registered 29 units, a personal best, with the aforementioned Volvo XC90 ending the month in second, with 20 units, while in third we have another luxury SUV, with the Audi Q7 e-Tron registering 13 units.

In the yearly ranking, the Volvo XC90 is a distant leader (250 units), with the second placed Volkswagen Passat GTE (143) more than a hundred units behind.

The third Placed is the BMW 330e, with 98 units, but the BMW X5 PHEV (89 registrations) is not far behind, so the bronze medal might still change in December.
