Mercedes-Benz UK Partners With Chargemaster To Provide Hassle-Free Home Charging

Mercedes-Benz UK has partnered with Chargemaster, the UK’s largest provider of EV charging infrastructure, to offer customers an easy home charging solution for their Mercedes-Benz or smart electric plug-in vehicle.

Mercedes-Benz currently offers four electric hybrid models in the UK: the C 350 e, E 350 e, GLE 500 e and S 500 e, as well as the all-electric B 250 e. Next year fully electric versions of the latest smart fortwo, fortwo cabriolet and forfour models will also join the line-up.

It’s all part of an increasing focus on electric mobility – at the Paris motor show in September Mercedes-Benz announced the launch of EQ, a new brand which will focus solely on electric vehicles and products.

Mercedes-Benz and smart customers will have the choice of installing either a tethered or non-tethered, 3.6kW or 7kW Chargemaster Homecharge unit at their home for quick and convenient charging. Customers simply complete an online registration form and will then be contacted by the dedicated Mercedes-Benz Homecharge team. The team will assess the customer’s property for suitability of the product and will advise on all elements of installation and maintenance. Chargemaster’s own specialist engineers aim to complete nationwide trouble-free installations within two weeks of an order being placed.

Prices start from £279 for the 3.6kW Homecharge unit and just £354 for the 7.0 kW version, which charges three times faster than a normal 13A socket. Customers benefit from £500 of OLEV funding which Chargemaster applies for on their behalf (with the exception of the GLE 500 e). All units are covered by a three-year warranty.

As well as convenient home charging, Mercedes-Benz and smart customers will also benefit from six months’ free access to Chargemaster’s “Polar Network” when they sign up with Homecharge, making charging just as convenient when away as at home. “Polar Network” is the UK’s largest network of public charging points with over 5,000 locations nationwide.
