BMW Teams with Iberdrola to Boost Electric-Car Market in Spain

BMW-i3-ChargingIberdrola and BMW entered into an agreement with the ultimate goal of advancing the progressive roll-out of electric cars in Spain, as part of the commitment towards sustainability and technological innovation shared by the two companies.

The agreement was signed in Madrid by Guenther Seemann, Executive Chairman of the vehicle manufacturer, and Aitor Moso, Retail Manager in the electrical utility.

The agreement has been entered into for a year and will be renewed on an annual basis unless either of the parties decides otherwise. It provides a framework for collaboration that includes mutual recommendation of the products and services currently offered by the two companies in the area of electric mobility, as well as many other aspects.

Under the agreement, Iberdrola, Spain’s largest power producer, will encourage its customers to choose BMW i3 electric cars, while the German manufacturer will recommend Iberdrola’s 100% renewable energy.

The two companies will also explore the possibilities of collaboration on innovation projects linked to electric mobility and technological initiatives with a view to exchanging information and helping to improve market penetration for this type of cars.

As part of this context of collaboration, Iberdrola designed and carried out the installation of charging points for electric cars at the corporate headquarters of BMW Ibérica, as well as at the exclusive BMW i points of sale.
