DS Automobiles Unveils DS F3VER Concept at Paris Motor Show

DS Automobiles has unveiled the DS F3VER, an exploratory concept car that previews a new direction for the French premium brand’s future designs.

Presented at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, the concept combines compact dimensions, distinctive lighting, extensive customisation options and a versatile interior to explore what the next generation of DS vehicles could look like.

Developed entirely in-house, the DS F3VER serves as a full-scale design laboratory, showcasing the expertise of the brand’s teams and their approach to innovation. Its name references the word “fever,” reflecting the company’s ambition to create an immediate emotional response through bold styling and a strong visual identity.

The concept explores three main themes: desirability, personalisation and freedom of use. While DS Automobiles has not announced production plans or detailed powertrain specifications, the F3VER provides an insight into the design principles that could influence its future electric vehicles.

DS F3VER Introduces a Bold New Design Direction

Measuring 4.19 metres long, 1.84 metres wide and 1.46 metres tall, the DS F3VER combines a compact footprint with proportions intended to give it a more substantial road presence.

Its exterior draws inspiration from several fields, including aeronautics, architecture, digital technology and high-tech consumer products. Sculpted surfaces, carefully integrated details and a distinctive lighting signature give the concept a contemporary appearance.

At the front, a vertical design element carrying the DS emblem forms the centrepiece of the vehicle’s identity. The arrangement is complemented by new Y-shaped vertical lighting elements, creating a distinctive appearance intended to stand out both during the day and at night.

The rear follows a similar design approach. A central element featuring a digitalised DS logo is integrated into the bumper, while multidimensional lighting creates the impression of a deep, illuminated tunnel.

The rear lighting system consists of 16 LED panels supported by a lightweight magnesium structure. Its design takes inspiration from the vaulted roof of Paris’s Grand Palais, combining architectural references with advanced lighting technology.

Together, the front and rear treatments establish a consistent visual identity that could influence future DS models.

Customisation Takes Centre Stage

Personalisation is one of the most important themes of the DS F3VER concept. Rather than treating colours and decorative details as optional additions, DS Automobiles has incorporated them into the vehicle’s overall design.

One of the concept’s distinctive features is a customisable roof ring that follows the contours of the bodywork. The decorative element provides another opportunity for owners to give their vehicles a more individual appearance.

The two-tone paintwork also introduces a different approach to visual personalisation. Instead of stopping at a conventional body panel boundary, the colour separation extends towards the rear lights and wraps around the tailgate, sides and bumper. This treatment changes how the vehicle’s proportions are perceived while creating additional possibilities for different colour combinations.

DS Automobiles has developed a special Cosmic Blue dichroic finish for the concept. Depending on the lighting conditions, the colour shifts between vivid blue and deeper violet tones, emphasising the sculpted surfaces.

Lighting also becomes part of the customisation experience. Animations integrated into the rear design can provide different visual signatures, communicate information and help establish a more intuitive relationship between the vehicle and its surroundings.

The concept’s wheels continue the premium design theme, featuring geometric forms, champagne-coloured details and the brand’s characteristic Clous de Paris guilloché pattern.

According to Thierry Metroz, DS Automobiles’ Design Director, the concept explores new possibilities for personalisation, a distinctive front-end identity and a design approach intended to reduce the number of components while improving perceived quality.

A Compact Concept With Practical Interior Space

Although the DS F3VER focuses heavily on design, it also explores how a relatively compact vehicle can accommodate a wide range of everyday activities.

The concept features a 2.70-metre wheelbase, which DS Automobiles says supports generous interior space, stability and comfort. Its 400-litre boot capacity is another important element, giving it the luggage-carrying potential associated with larger vehicle categories.

These dimensions suggest a vehicle designed to balance urban manoeuvrability with the practicality needed for longer journeys. Daily commuting, leisure activities and weekend trips are all part of the concept’s intended scope.

DS Automobiles also positions the F3VER as a preview of a new generation of electric vehicles, highlighting comfort, range and versatility. However, the company has not disclosed battery capacity, estimated driving range, charging speeds or motor specifications.

As a result, the concept’s real-world electric performance remains unconfirmed.

DS F3VER Embraces a “Design Intelligence” Philosophy

Beyond its styling, the DS F3VER demonstrates a design philosophy that DS Automobiles calls “Design Intelligence.” The approach focuses on creating a distinctive appearance with fewer components, simpler structures and more efficient development processes.

Several features illustrate this philosophy. The front lighting integrates the headlamps and daytime running lights into a coherent assembly, while one-piece bumpers and the removal of additional plastic trim around the wheel arches and lower body help create cleaner surfaces.

Reducing component numbers can simplify manufacturing and assembly while supporting weight reduction and more efficient use of materials. It can also improve visual consistency by reducing unnecessary joints and decorative elements.

The concept’s smoother bodywork and carefully integrated features demonstrate how these objectives can be combined with a premium appearance.

DS Automobiles is also using digital design tools and artificial intelligence solutions developed within Stellantis to support the creative process. These technologies allow designers to explore more alternatives, compare proposals and refine promising ideas more quickly.

The company emphasises that artificial intelligence is intended to support human creativity rather than replace it. By accelerating early design exploration, the technology can give teams more time to develop the details of a vehicle’s final appearance.

An Electric Future for DS Automobiles?

The DS F3VER offers a glimpse into how DS Automobiles intends to differentiate its future models in an increasingly competitive electric vehicle market.

Its combination of compact dimensions, premium styling, advanced lighting and extensive personalisation points towards a design strategy that prioritises individuality alongside everyday usability.

The concept also demonstrates how reducing complexity can contribute to both manufacturing efficiency and a more sophisticated exterior. Meanwhile, its 400-litre boot and long wheelbase underline the importance of practicality alongside visual appeal.

However, the DS F3VER remains an exploratory concept rather than a confirmed production vehicle. Details about its electric powertrain, battery technology, driving range, pricing and potential launch date have not been announced.

Presented at the DS Automobiles stand during the 2026 Paris Motor Show, the concept also features an interactive web application that allows visitors to create, personalise and share selfies featuring the vehicle.

Whether its distinctive design reaches production remains to be seen, but the DS F3VER clearly communicates the brand’s ambition to combine French luxury, digital innovation and greater freedom of personal expression in its future vehicles.

For now, the concept provides a valuable preview of the design ideas that could shape the next chapter of DS Automobiles.
