AUDI E7X Launches in China With Up to 751 km Range and 670 HP

Audi and SAIC have officially launched the new AUDI E7X in China, expanding their dedicated China-focused AUDI electric vehicle lineup.

Priced from 269,800 yuan (approximately $39,800), the all-electric SUV combines premium design, advanced digital technology, rapid charging capabilities, and long driving range in an effort to win over Chinese EV buyers.

The E7X becomes the second model under the new AUDI brand, following the E5 Sportback. Unlike traditional Audi vehicles, models from this China-exclusive brand use the “AUDI” wordmark instead of the familiar four-ring logo and are specifically tailored to local consumer preferences.

Large Electric SUV With Distinctive Design

The AUDI E7X is a full-size electric crossover measuring 5,049 mm long, 1,997 mm wide, and 1,710 mm tall, with a generous 3,060 mm wheelbase. That makes it slightly larger than the Audi Q8 while offering a spacious five-seat interior and 682 liters of cargo capacity.

Its exterior features a coupe-like roofline, muscular rear haunches, short overhangs, and a distinctive lighting signature. At the front, Audi integrates a unique light bar consisting of 1,446 LED elements capable of displaying multiple welcome and farewell animations.

The SUV also features advanced projection headlights that can display useful information on the road surface, including parking guidance and distance warnings.

Premium Cabin Packed With Technology

Inside, the E7X adopts a highly digital layout designed around Chinese consumer expectations. The centerpiece is a massive 27-inch ultra-wide display paired with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

An AI-powered Audi Assistant 2.0, supported by large language model technology, serves as the vehicle’s voice interface and digital companion.

Comfort features include:

– Heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats
– Power-adjustable rear seats
– Power leg rest for the front passenger
– Optional ceiling-mounted 21.4-inch entertainment display
– Built-in refrigerator
– Bose premium audio system with 26 speakers

A four-seat executive configuration is also available, featuring an extended center console with wireless charging pads and a dedicated touchscreen control panel.

Advanced Driver Assistance Powered by Chinese AI Technology

One of the E7X’s standout features is its integration of Chinese autonomous driving specialist Momenta’s latest reinforcement-learning model.

The system relies on an extensive hardware suite that includes:

– 11 cameras
– 12 ultrasonic sensors
– Three millimeter-wave radars
– LiDAR
– Nvidia Orin X computing platform delivering 254 TOPS of processing power

According to Audi, the system can handle challenging urban driving situations such as narrow-road navigation, three-point turns, and emergency obstacle avoidance.

900V Architecture and Ultra-Fast Charging

Every AUDI E7X comes standard with a 900-volt electrical architecture, one of the key technologies helping Chinese EV manufacturers push charging performance to new levels.

The SUV uses CATL battery packs available in either 100 kWh or 109 kWh capacities. Audi says the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in as little as 13 minutes using 4C fast-charging technology.

The company also claims drivers can add approximately 429 km (267 miles) of range in just 10 minutes under optimal charging conditions.

Up to 751 km of Range

The AUDI E7X is offered in rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations.

The entry-level rear-wheel-drive version produces 300 kW (402 hp) and 500 Nm of torque. Equipped with a 100 kWh battery, it delivers up to 705 km of CLTC range.

For buyers prioritizing efficiency, the long-range rear-wheel-drive variant pairs the same motor with a larger 109 kWh battery, increasing range to an impressive 751 km (467 miles) on the CLTC cycle.

Performance-focused customers can opt for the dual-motor quattro version, which combines front and rear motors for a total output of 500 kW (670 hp). This model accelerates from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.9 seconds while offering up to 660 km of range with the larger battery pack.

Top speed is electronically limited to 230 km/h.

Additional chassis technologies include adaptive air suspension with 80 mm of height adjustment and rear-wheel steering with up to seven degrees of steering angle, helping improve maneuverability despite the SUV’s large footprint.

AUDI E7X Pricing

The AUDI E7X is available in five trim levels:

ModelPrice (China)Approx. USD
E7X Pioneer269,800 yuan$39,800
E7X Pioneer Pro299,800 yuan$44,200
E7X Pioneer quattro329,800 yuan$48,600
E7X Pioneer Long-Range329,800 yuan$48,600
E7X Flagship quattro359,800 yuan$53,100

Notably, the launch pricing is 20,000 yuan lower than the model’s earlier pre-sale price.

Audi’s China EV Strategy Accelerates

The E7X represents another major milestone in Audi’s expanding partnership with SAIC Motor and highlights the German automaker’s strategy of combining Audi engineering with China’s rapidly evolving EV ecosystem.

Built on the jointly developed Advanced Digitized Platform (ADP), the E7X leverages local battery suppliers, software developers, AI specialists, and connected-car technologies to better compete with domestic rivals such as the Xiaomi YU7 and Tesla Model Y.

Audi has already confirmed a third AUDI-branded electric model—a fully electric sedan—for launch in 2027, signaling that the China-focused sub-brand will continue to play an important role in the company’s future EV plans.
