Following its presales kickoff at Auto Guangzhou 2023 in November, SAIC-GM-Wuling has launched sales of the Wuling Xing Guang PHEV family sedan, further enriching company’s new energy vehicle portfolio in China. Two variants are priced at RMB 88,800 and RMB 105,800 (11,350 euros and 13,650 euros).
Wuling’s first super A-class new energy notchback sedan has a roomy interior for all occupants and a segment-leading 540 liters of trunk space. This is the result of its length of 4,835 mm, width of 1,860 mm, height of 1,515 mm and segment-best wheelbase of 2,800 mm.
Equipped with the Wuling Lingxi hybrid system, the Xing Guang PHEV offers a comprehensive range of over 1,100 km. The two variants have a pure electric range of 70 km and 150 km, and an ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.228Cd.
Four driving modes (Economy+, Economy, Standard and Sport), four hybrid power modes (series, parallel, pure electric and direct drive) and three energy recovery modes (comfort, standard and economy) further enhance the Xing Guang PHEV’s driving and riding experience.
Safety is paramount in the Xing Guang PHEV. About 76.4% of the family sedan’s body consists of high-strength steel. It also comes standard with Electronic Stability Control, antilock brakes, electronic brake-force distribution, Hill Hold Control and Auto Hold.
Xing Guang means “Starlight” in Chinese. It is the first product built on SAIC-GM-Wuling’s all-new NEV architecture. On the basis of the joint venture’s successful Global Small Electric Vehicle (GSEV) platform, the new architecture – aimed at larger products with more flexible capabilities – will underpin PHEVs, hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and all-electric vehicles.
The all-electric version of the Xing Guang will be available next year.
