Hyundai Launches HTWO Hydrogen Brand in Japan, Unveils All-New NEXO

Hyundai Motor Group is doubling down on hydrogen mobility with the launch of its dedicated HTWO hydrogen brand and business platform in Japan.

The debut took place at the H2&FC Expo in Tokyo—one of the world’s largest hydrogen and fuel cell industry events—where Hyundai showcased a comprehensive vision for a hydrogen-powered future, spanning the entire value chain from production to end-use applications.

HTWO serves as Hyundai Motor Group’s unified hydrogen brand, designed to deliver end-to-end hydrogen solutions. It integrates the Group’s capabilities across manufacturing, infrastructure, and mobility, while also acting as an open platform for partnerships, collaboration, and investment.

All-New Hyundai NEXO Takes Center Stage

A key highlight of the event is the all-new Hyundai NEXO, the company’s flagship fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV). This marks the first full redesign since the model’s original launch in 2018.

The next-generation NEXO features:

– A more robust, future-oriented design
– Improved safety and convenience features
– A spacious, refined interior
– Enhanced driving performance

Visitors at the expo were also given the opportunity to test drive the Japan-spec NEXO, offering firsthand experience of Hyundai’s latest hydrogen-powered SUV.

New V2H Capability for Japan

Tailored specifically for the Japanese market, the new NEXO introduces Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) functionality. This allows the vehicle to supply electricity to a home during emergencies such as earthquakes or power outages—an important feature in disaster-prone regions.

This builds on the existing Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, further enhancing the NEXO’s practicality beyond transportation.

Full Hydrogen Ecosystem on Display

Hyundai Motor Group didn’t just showcase a vehicle—it presented an entire hydrogen ecosystem through its HTWO platform.

The exhibition featured a wide range of technologies and solutions, including:

– Hydrogen refueling infrastructure, including a packaged station concept
– A hydrogen-powered tram
– A hydrogen burner for industrial applications
– Fuel cell electric trucks and buses
– A next-generation hydrogen fuel cell system
– The innovative Automatic Charging Robot–Hydrogen (ACR H)

This lineup highlights Hyundai’s ambition to lead not only in passenger vehicles, but also in commercial transport and energy solutions.

Driving the Hydrogen Future Forward

With the launch of HTWO and the debut of the redesigned NEXO, Hyundai Motor Group is positioning itself at the forefront of hydrogen innovation. By combining advanced vehicle technology with infrastructure and industrial solutions, the company is building a scalable ecosystem for zero-emission mobility.
