This New Electric Pickup Costs Less Than $19,000. Chery’s Rely Brand Launches R08 EV Pickup With Up to 510 km Range.

Chery Automotive’s pickup-focused sub-brand Rely has officially entered the electric truck segment with the launch of the Rely R08 EV, the brand’s first fully electric pickup truck.

In terms of size, the R08 EV measures 5,330 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, and 1,890 mm tall, with a 3,230 mm wheelbase, putting it squarely in the same class as popular midsize pickups like the Toyota Hilux.

The Rely R08 EV is available in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations. The RWD version is powered by a 150 kW (200 hp) electric motor producing 350 Nm of torque. Buyers looking for more performance can opt for the AWD variant, which delivers a combined output of 300 kW and 540 Nm of peak torque.

Battery options vary by drivetrain. The RWD model comes with either a 66.54 kWh or 88 kWh battery pack, offering a claimed driving range of 405 km and 510 km, respectively. The AWD version uses the larger 88 kWh battery, achieving a range of up to 505 km.

Inside, the R08 EV features a modern cabin with either a 12.3-inch or 15.6-inch central infotainment display, depending on the trim level. The smart cockpit is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 in-vehicle chipset. Higher-end trims also add advanced driver-assistance features, including adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist.

Pricing for the Rely R08 EV starts at 127,800 yuan (approximately $18,300) and tops out at 158,800 yuan ($22,800), making it one of the most affordable electric pickups in its segment.

Rely Auto was officially launched by Chery on April 20, 2025, with the goal of becoming a global benchmark for value-focused, intelligent, and new-energy pickup trucks. The brand name “Rely” is derived from the words Rebuild, Explore, Link, and Yield.

Looking ahead, Chery has confirmed plans to introduce one new Rely model per year over the next four years. A gasoline-powered version of the R08 debuted in September 2024, with a starting price of 88,800 yuan ($12,800).
