SAIC-GM-Wuling launches Wuling Xingguang 730 MPV with three powertrain options

SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) announced the launch of the Wuling Xingguang 730, an all-new seven-seat multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) designed to meet the evolving mobility needs of modern families.

The Xingguang 730 offers four variants across three powertrains — plug-in hybrid, pure electric, and gasoline — making it the only model in its class to deliver such versatility. The lineup includes the 125-km (78 miles) Plug-in Hybrid Luxury, 500-km (310 miles) Pure Electric Luxury, 1.5T CVT Elite, and 1.5T six-speed MT Comfort models, priced between RMB 73,000 and RMB 109,800 (10,300$ and 15,450$).

SGMW began pre-sales of the Wuling Xingguang 730 last month and has already received more than 30,000 orders.

“The ‘730’ nameplate holds a special place in SGMW’s history as one of the most beloved family vehicles in China,” said Vincent Wong, Executive Vice President of SGMW. “With the launch of the all-new Wuling Xingguang 730, we are carrying that legacy into a new era of electrified mobility. The new model embodies our ongoing commitment to deliver versatile, high-quality, and affordable transportation solutions that meet the evolving needs of modern families.”

Built on Wuling’s dedicated new energy vehicle architecture, the Xingguang 730 is engineered to deliver a dynamic yet efficient driving experience.

Three powertrains for diverse family lifestyles

The 125-km (78 miles) Plug-in Hybrid Luxury model features the LING Power 3.0 system, combining a high-efficiency hybrid engine with a 43.2% maximum thermal efficiency and a fourth-generation electric drive system. This configuration enables a total driving range of up to 1,100 kilometers (683 miles) and fuel consumption as low as 5.3 L/100 km when the battery is low.

The 500-km (310 miles) EV Luxury variant is equipped with a 60 kWh MAGIC battery pack, exceeding the latest national safety standards. It delivers a CLTC range of 500 kilometers, energy consumption of 13.6 kWh/100 km. The battery supports 2C fast charging, allowing it to recharge from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes, and provides external power output for multiple scenarios.

The Elite and Comfort models are powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged direct-injection engine producing up to 290 N·m of torque. The CVT version ensures smooth and responsive acceleration, while the manual-transmission variant offers robust reliability and outstanding value.

The Xingguang 730’s independent rear suspension and finely tuned rear bushing system with 24 stiffness settings provide enhanced handling and comfort across diverse road conditions, minimizing motion discomfort for passengers.

Safety and confidence at every turn

Safety remains a top priority for SGMW. The MAGIC battery used in the Xingguang 730 has been proven across 3 million vehicles equipped with this system in operation, with zero fire incidents. It incorporates non-flammable cell technology, a reinforced battery structure, and real-time BMS monitoring for comprehensive protection.

The Xingguang 730 also features a six-ring high-strength steel cage body, front and rear crash beams, and energy-absorbing structures. The aluminum-alloy front crash beams and energy absorbers use material with a thickness of 2.5 mm, providing class-leading structural strength.

Driver-assistance and comfort technologies include a 540° panoramic view system and 50W air-cooled wireless phone charging. The second and third rows include four ISOFIX child seat anchors, while 41 NVH insulation points and a 12.8-inch infotainment display with multi-scene modes deliver a quiet and intelligent cabin experience.

True seven-seater comfort and space

The Xingguang 730 adopts a 2+2+3 seating layout, creating a spacious and ergonomic cabin that meets the needs of today’s families.

The second-row aisle measures 230 mm allowing easy movement for both adults and children. The third-row seats feature recline adjustment and foldable functionality, expanding cargo capacity up to 1,202 liters. A total of 25 smart storage compartments offer practical convenience for everyday use.

The Xingguang 730 is also available with dual electric sliding doors – the only model in its segment to offer this feature.
