bp pulse has expanded its U.S. charging network with the opening of a new 40-bay EV fast-charging hub near Houston’s William P. Hobby Airport. This new facility is the company’s second in Houston, following the launch of its first U.S. hub at bp’s Houston headquarters in early 2024.
Featuring 40 ultrafast EV charging bays equipped with 150kW DC fast chargers, the new hub is designed to meet the needs of ride-hail drivers, airport rental car customers and local EV drivers, providing them with fast and convenient charging on the go. The site also offers a covered canopy and free Wi-Fi, ensuring a comfortable and connected experience for customers.
To celebrate the new hub, bp pulse will hold a launch event offering drivers the opportunity to charge their EV for $0.01/kWh anytime on November 12th, as well as providing refreshments and giveaways from 9:00am – 4:00pm CT.
“We are thrilled to open our latest EV charging hub near Houston’s Hobby Airport. This is another example of how we’re meeting EV drivers and ride-hailing fleets where they are, across metro and airport locations like this one.”
Sujay Sharma, CEO of bp pulse Americas
In early 2024, bp pulse opened their first US EV charging hub at bp’s Houston headquarters. The Hobby airport hub at 8100 Monroe Road marks an expansion of bp pulse’s presence in the Houston area, providing EV drivers with more options for charging.
This launch builds on bp pulse’s plans to install EV charging hubs at airport locations across the country, in collaboration with Hertz. This includes the new charging hub at LAX, the largest bp pulse location in the US, and recently opened hubs at SFO and BOS.
Additionally, bp pulse is building its network across a variety of site types in bp’s retail network of bp, Amoco, ampm, Thorntons and TravelCenters of America locations. Many of these sites provide drivers with amenities while charging, such as convenience stores, restaurants, and car washes. The company also recently announced a strategic agreement with Waffle House to add charging to their locations from 2026.
