BYD achieves best sales month of the year

Chinese EV giant BYD saw significant growth in June, achieving its highest monthly sales figure for new energy vehicles (NEVs) this year.

Last month, BYD sold an impressive 382,585 NEVs. That’s an 11.98% increase compared to last year, but only a 0.03 percent increase from May.

BYD’s NEV sales encompass both passenger and commercial vehicles. In June, passenger NEVs led the way with 377,628 units sold, marking an 11.00% year-on-year increase and a slight 0.19% bump from May.

While a smaller segment, commercial NEVs saw an astounding 242.57% year-on-year increase in June, selling 4,957 units. Though they experienced a slight dip from May, this growth highlights BYD’s expanding reach in the commercial sector.

Within the passenger NEV category, BEV sales hit 206,884 units in June, marking the second consecutive month they’ve surpassed the 200,000 mark. This is a robust 42.50% increase year-on-year and a healthy 1.23% rise month-on-month, indicating strong consumer adoption of their pure electric offerings.

On the PHEV side for passenger vehicles, sales reached 170,744 units in June. While down slightly compared to last year and last month, PHEVs remain a significant part of BYD’s portfolio, offering a bridge for many consumers to electric mobility.

Perhaps one of the most exciting trends is BYD’s explosive growth in overseas markets. In June, they sold 90,049 vehicles internationally, setting a new record for the seventh consecutive month! This represents an incredible 233.58% year-on-year increase and a 1.13% jump from May, demonstrating BYD’s successful global expansion.
