Volkswagen Group doubles all-electric deliveries in Europe

The latest figures reveal a positive trajectory for the Volkswagen Group, indicating that their strategic direction is resonating with consumers. The company reported a significant increase in all-electric vehicle deliveries worldwide, climbing by approximately 60 per cent in the first quarter.

Europe proved to be a particularly strong market, where the Volkswagen Group significantly strengthened its leading position in the all-electric segment. Deliveries in this region doubled, demonstrating strong consumer demand for their electric offerings. This positive trend is further highlighted by the fact that the share of all-electric models in their total volume in Western Europe also doubled, reaching around 19 per cent.

The Group is experiencing robust momentum in its home region, a trend that is also reflected in a substantial 29 per cent increase in incoming orders across all drive types. This surge in demand has brought the order book in the region back up to approximately one million vehicles. Looking ahead, the Volkswagen Group anticipates further positive impact from a range of newly launched models in the coming months.

Globally, the company saw a slight increase in deliveries during the first quarter. Gains achieved in the North and South American markets, as well as in Europe, successfully offset the anticipated decline in deliveries within China. These results suggest a resilient global performance and a positive outlook for the Volkswagen Group as they continue their transition towards electrification.

Growth in North America (+4 per cent), South America (+17 per cent), Western Europe (+3 per cent) and Central and Eastern Europe (+8 per cent) more than compensated for the expected decline in China (-7 per cent).

Global BEV share in the first quarter rises significantly from 6 to 10 per cent, strong growth in Europe (+113 per cent) and the USA (+51 per cent), declining development in China (-37 per cent), Volkswagen Group clear BEV market leader in Europe (market share around 26 per cent).

New models of all drive types such as the VW ID.7 Tourer, CUPRA Terramar, Škoda Elroq, Audi Q6 e-tron and Porsche 911 are enjoying great popularity; order bank in Western Europe grows to around 980,000 vehicles in the first three months, BEV orders increase particularly significantly (+64 per cent).

Demand for vehicles with modern second-generation plug-in hybrid drives (PHEV) and all-electric ranges of up to 143 km is increasing.
