California’s EV Charging Network Now Totals 178,549 Chargers

California’s nation-leading electric vehicle infrastructure continues to expand at a record pace. According to the Office of California Governor Gavin Newsom, California now has 48% more EV chargers than gasoline nozzles in the state.

Since the last reporting period in August 2024, 26,193 new public and shared private EV chargers have been added across the state, bringing the total to 178,549 chargers – a significant step forward in meeting the growing demand for clean transportation.

As California transitions toward a 100% zero-emission transportation future, state investments are being strategically deployed to accelerate infrastructure buildout, improve reliability, and expand access for drivers statewide. The latest numbers demonstrate that policy and funding initiatives are working efficiently and effectively to support the state’s clean transportation goals.

Continued investments from programs like the Clean Transportation Investment Plan and federal partnerships are enabling swift deployment of charging stations in urban, suburban, and rural communities alike.
